The VOICE is all we NEED to create CHANGE - World Pulse LIVE 2011

The World Pulse LIVE 2011 (L-R; Jensine, Beatrice, Martha and Sarvina )

Three weeks ago I did not think I would be speaking to the world, sharing my life experience and vision. It sounds like a dream but real. I had never known that there is such a power in listening to our experience, swallowing our pains and focusing them into a ministry and then sharing it out with others.
We are global ambassadors if only realize the power of our voice and that wish we hold so much in our hearts. He who said educating a girl child is educating a nation INDEED was thoughtful, my education and empowerment is changing and empowering handful of people each day here in the United States.
I am learning SO MUCH in this tour, one of the lessons is the power of networking, another is the power of telling our stories, the other is the power of listening and ofcourse foods and cultures.

Networking:
There is no great harm we do to ourselves than MINDING our business every time we meet "strangers". In the plane yesterday as we traveled from Portland to Colorado I sat next to a young white man named Karl, 22 years of age. He was "minding his business" but I aggressively minded his business too, I sprout a conversation with him and slowly we ended up reasoning together. We shared about life, cultures in Africa and here in US, we talked about the power of interacting with strangers and at the end of the day I got a quote from him saying"the so many problems we have in the world today is because we mind our own business". He went ahead and told me that it is not just an individualism/personal weakness, it is nation(s)/country and global weakness.
While in Portland, we - Martha, Savina and I met so many wonderful people who are now part of our network and roots of global movement and network of women bringing about change.
There is such a power in networking!

Power of telling/sharing our stories

When we analyze our lives closely, we are able to use our experience as a turning point both for our won self and the others who are walking on our shoes or those who risk walking on our shoes. Our stories are our voice, our stories and the global movement, our stories are the FORCES for change. I encourage everyone of us to use our stories to bring about the change we need; positive change gearing towards empowerment, knowledge, economic development, peace and unity, improved global technology.
There is such a power in telling/sharing our stories!

The power of listening
If we listened to ourselves first, we will know what we need and want with our lives. We should not pay attention to evil or harm, we should not listen to hatred and discrimination, we should not listen to guns and booms, we should not listen to things that tend to cause harm to our planet (People, Plants and Animals). We should listen to the cry of the wounded, the small things ignored such as LOVE, PEACE,UNITY,CARE. The world NEEDS WOMEN, GIRLS, CHILDREN who are so often invisible in leadership and authority/decision making -globally. The power of bringing about CHANGE hides in the hearts of the feminists.
If we listen to voices of the people, voices of the plants and voices of the animals solutions will be heard.
There is such a power in listening!

Foods and Cultures
I believe we must LOVE ourselves first. Our bodies are the ONLY gift we have and live for on earth. We should therefore eat what is enough and good for it. It is very interesting trying out foods here in the US, in one way or another there is so much to learn about food trade that can be of economic development to my country Uganda. The culture here I would prefer that the developing worlds copy the construction strategies, technology and conservation of a developed world such as US. There is so much that our government need to do to improve our small rich country.
There is such a power in valuing foods and cultures!

World Pulse LIVE 2011 is opening my eyes to see the world beyond my usual understanding. I feel responsible for all that goes on all around the world but I realize I can do anything and not everything. I have a vision; "If we have education and good health, we are empowered". It evolved from my personal story and life experience that I would love to share with you throughout the World Pulse LIVE 2011. I am inviting you TODAY, come Tuesday October 11 at University of Denver! Come hear it yourself.

More

Dear Beatrice

Its great to see you three are having such a great tour. I have been following your journey as much as I can. And I have been going back each time, to read your old posts and then come back to your current tour, to see the progress. Personally, I would love to hear more of the subjects that you are touching upon. For example, on one of the TV interviews, I heard the anchor asking you about land rights and I liked that very much because this brings out the real picture of the great work you are doing on ground.

I hope to hear more of such stories on specific issues - issues that you have directly been involved, issues that were challenging and issues where your 5-month long training as a VOF came handy!

Meanwhile, all the best and lots of love!

Dear Beatrice

Thank you for sharing your experience with us.

I love the way you said it and also believe it with you :"we must LOVE ourselves first". Yet, as a woman, you mind other people's businesses, by extending love and care to them. As an agent of change, you mind other people's businesses to make impacts in their lives. That is awesome dear Sister. Keep going!

I am sitting here with tears of joy and gratefulness that you are out there sharing your story and pulling people OUT of theirs! I am so proud of all the women who worked with World Pulse - through all the phases of application and assignments into the actual training and coaching and writing and now for the three of you SPEAKING - in order to speak and live your truths with courage and wisdom and love.

This has always been my prayer and I am overjoyed to see you and Martha and Sarvina and ALL OF YOU out there making a difference and BEING THE CHANGE you want to see in the world.

I love you with every ounce of my person.

Encouraging!

Thank you for confiding in us, following us, encouraging us and connecting with us.
I have never imagined we live in the same world but we have different lives. Just as I got to the US customs; one of the officers did not think there is a community in this world without no refrigerators. I think it is time for us mind other people's business to make our world better.
You are creating change, providing opportunities, education and motivation. Keep up with the great work!!!

I love you too Aunt Ruth.

Hi dear Beatrice;

I wish there will be space for me next year to share my experiences of Breathing among wounded and dead-bodies of my nation, but carring hope and happiness for a brighter future for Afghan women and chidren. I wish there will be world for listening to my voice like yours, to listen to Afghan women and hopeful youths of Afghansitan. I wish World Pulse could bring the talent of Afghans for changing Afghanistan. I am hoping to reach the peaks that you are now stepping on them. I love and believe on a Vision of Slef, Devotion for Others.
Women of the world will shape the future world. Thanks, Parwana Fayyaz

AchiengNas's picture

Parwana, you are a powerful voice

All I can say is; you have ALL the opportunities to show the world, tell the world what is happening in Afghan! Your passion for women and children in the war torn area is such a huge movement that the world needs to hear. You have confessed it, believe that you will step on the platform too.
Another advice I kindly request you to consider is to keep the passion in you ALIVE, keep your vision at the back of your mind and never grow cold even when you do not get the opportunity soon, someday, soon or later you will.

Good luck and kind regards,

Beatrice

Dear Beatrice

I like your attitude of 'minding other people's business'.It is the exact attitude needed to effect change in our communities. You can not recognise a need, an abuse, a violation of a human right unless you walk around with your eyes wide open, eager to see these things and do something to make them right. Greatly inspired by your work and experiences change-maker. All the best.

AchiengNas's picture

Thank you sister

I can't even imagine what a world it will be when all women who have been silent for so long realize the power of voicing and I can not even think about the free minded, networked, love-filled, determined generations we will have ahead of time.

Everyone knows how powerful the VOICE is.... how sharp and precise the tool of voice is... for this very reason they try to silence women around the world. It is with the voice that we inspire, encourage and empower one another. Thank you for all your work and determination to share your voice!!!

Hope to see you in New York.

See you in New York City

Hello Beatrice,

I am in full support of your mission and vision for women and girls across the globe. You are a brave warrior with courage that reaches the highest mountains!!! You are a great inspiration to so many. I congratulate you on all of your hard work and love for the world and empowerment of women.

Sending you lots of love and light for your journey.

Mia... your sister in the U.S. New York City!

B,

As strong as your words are in written form, it is the seeing you in person that trickles tears, raises the hair on my arms, and takes my breath away. May your speaking tour be widely attended so that thousands will experience the making of 3 powerful women leaders, the stature of Martin Luther King in the US-really your words evoke that level of action.

Listening still...

Naturally grateful,

This is rather touching and i just wonder how we can be "our brothers' keepers" if we keep minding our business, the big and constant word is CHANGE and that the only thing that can take women where they ought to be. Thanks for sharing this with us and keep the flame burning!

Thank you sister

Today, someone stood in the crowd after our presentations and told me that ignorance is everywhere and that through minding each others business, networking and sharing our voices (there is such knowledge and opportunities in the developing countries that the developed world is naive of and vice versa), change of attitudes towards each other world wide, through minding their business is a great idea.

Thanks for following us,

how nice to read from you

Dear Beatu,

I am glad to read about how much you are keeping the women cause fly high in USA and the world at large.

I liked the business of minding other peoples business, because the world needs WOMEN, GIRLS AND CHILDREN, who are often invisible in leadership and authority/decision making right from the household level, especially in africa and uganda in particular.

Thank you girl.

You are a go getter.

Beatrice, following your progress has been very inspiring for me. It is so evident that you are waxing stronger by the day. I am so glad that you are on the path to living out your dreams and also helping others live out theirs. I bet the tour has been quite engaging and transforming for you and your co travelers. I imagine that it's been a life changing experience! By the day, as I read through your stories and comments, I appreciate more, the power of openness:connecting, sharing, learning and speaking. You exhume so much passion, confidence, courage and strength. I must let you know that are doing great and I am really impressed!

I am so glad that you have been following my journals. I look forward to adding something new soon.
You are very true, realizing our voices, the things that oppress us, the things that tie us - can be solved by merely speaking - opening up, the networking comes in automatically and same with sharing and learning.

Once again thank you for keeping in touch, we are only 3voices representing all the women around the world including you.

Take the world by storm!

Ah, Beatrice! I've been thinking of you and Sarvina and Martha every minute of your tour. This must be a totally transformative experience for each of you. So much to process! I can imagine the three of you sitting together in hotel rooms night after night sharing your experience and comparing the lessons you are learning and the insights you are gaining day be day. I have one question for you: when do you sleep? I hope you have had a few moments to breathe the air, smell a rose, eat something yummy, laugh at a joke, hum a tune! And I hope that when you reach back to our beloved Uganda, you will have some time to think, and write and just simply marvel! I'm so so happy to have hugged your neck at Portland State on the evening of your opening presentation. You totally ROCKED that room. I'm looking forward to following your experience as you take the tour back home ready to continue on the road to inspired change.
With much love, respect, admiration and joy!

Thank you Porter

We are doing great speaking before hundreds and today before more than 800 people at the Bioneer conference 2011.
We go to sleep by 10pm, sometimes midnight. There is so much fun having Martha and Sarvina in the room; Martha is a funny one so we get to giggle as the days go by. I got something unforgettable in Portland, the massage; it is one thing I had never had in my life; I felt the first ever tender loving touch.
I think everyday and event gets better and better, I AM ROCKING and we are ROCKING.
I will write some more next week, on Monday.
Thank you so much for standing with us and following us all the way, Potter.

I have not been on the computer for atleast a day and ahalf- your prayer worked. Today we walked through Central Park New York. The trees truly feel for humans. It was warm and calm over there. The streets were cold.
I won't allow my head to explode. I write down what I need most so that I empty my brain for fresh thoughts and ideas.

Warm greetings from Sarvina and Martha. And thanks for thinking about us.

Great to watch you today

Hey there,

I had the pleasure of watching you on the bioneers webcast today. I used to live in San Rafael, CA, and went to the conference every year. But now I live in Maui, and was delighted to find I could still share in it real time. I have meant Jensine before, and appreciated her work. Now, 2 or 3 years later, I see her on stage with the real flesh and blood deal--you and your 2 compatriots, standing strong.

I had the good fortune to go to Africa, to Nigeria; I have also been to Colombia and one of my best friends is from Vietnam, another from Japan. That familiarity with Africa, Latin America, and Asia filled my heart as I watched you ladies, each a flower of her homeland, communicating with your own unique song. I felt so at home feeling the diversity within the unity, with all the different ways the beauty of life expresses itself in form. I felt like "me" and "you" disappeared, and there was just One. I loved your joy, and I especially loved your dance.

Thank you, beautiful sister, and much luck on your journey.
