Go Beyond! Be all You can Be!

My life thus far has been a journey for which I am so grateful for. A path that has taken me on highs and lows, positives and negatives, fighting, battling within of who am I, what am I suppose to be doing, why am I doing what I do, is this what I have to offer, or do I have anything to offer at all? When looking within, it is the most difficult and challenging thing to do. No one really wants to look at the good and not so good in one self. Through my trials and tribulations, joys and laughter I have come to realise that this is what makes my journey, my own. Starting out as a shy, introverted, quiet child, who was afraid to show who I really was, felt shut up by those around me, there was this inner voice, a burning light that would not fade. As a teenager and adult, through the help and encouragement of teachers, family and friends I realised that I had to fight for what I believe in and that mostly I need to fight for myself, for who I am as a powerful women, so that I can fight for those who cannot fight for themselves. No matter how many times I was put down or someone tried to shut me up I knew I had to stand up, find the truth, shout it out and help give others a voice.

My personal journey has been and continues to be finding ways that I can express myself, find truth in what I do, believe in myself, love myself, believe that I have the inner-strength to help others, especially girls and young women, to be the best that they can be. Part of my vision is to be part of a community, local and global, that inspires me and that I inspire to change, to live positively, without fear, exploitation, abuse, or suffering.

With Pulse Wire I am honoured to have started to find a safe space and place where it is so easy to communicate with such amazing like minded women. To find that we are all human, have an innate sense of wanting to help others, of wanting to be all that we are intended to be. I can hardly believe my excitement every time I read a new journal or story, how inspired I feel to dig in and make change happen, to tell everyone I know of this wonderful medium, to find ways to empower women through Web 2.0 and all its tools. I want to be a correspondent yes, but also to go beyond this, by one day having an empowerment centre; a safe space that not only teaches about the wonders of Web 2.0, but nurtures lives, encourages personal development, brings about understanding of diversities and cultures, helps women connect in cyber space, globally, but also on a one-to-one level, locally.

I envision this space as growing and thriving, with the care and love that a new born baby does, when it receives all the positive energy, care and love from those around it. To really see Ubuntu in my community in my country thrive, but also to help others around the world understand what real Ubuntu is. The philosophy of Ubuntu means that each person is who they are only because of other people.

By becoming a Voices of our Future correspondent I will be able to tell the stories of the voiceless, help them shout out their voice to the world, of those affected by the atrocities of society and the world, share my experiences, but also learn from other women across the world, make new connections, friendships, find solutions to problems, move forward and continue to fight for the rights of all women, all human beings, and in my own small way help empower others through empowering myself and realising my vision!

Charmaine,
Not only is your voice surfacing strongly and clearly, but you are definitely speaking for many besides yourself.

I love your Ubuntu philosophy!

Fighting for those who cannot fight for themselves is a powerful motivator. May you have the chance to share your enthusiasm and positive energy with as many people as possible.
