My Vision for Us

One thing I am most certain about is my passion for knowledge seeking and will continue to seek for it throughout my life. For indeed knowledge is empowering. I want to continue to learn, grow and develop myself personally and professionally to make a positive change. I intend to explore and address issues concerning women and children. Also, I intend to use my acquired knowledge to help in empowering people whether in my community and/or all over the world. I want to be part of the solution in building a dignified and peaceful community and world. A community that is tolerant and accommodating, supportive, fair and just, non-judgemental and gives equal rights and opportunities to all people. A place where we can all co-exist harmoniously.
My vision for the future is mainly driven by my past experiences while growing up. We had not everything that we wanted but the love, peace, support and contentment we had is comparable to none. That is the kind of community and world I envisage for myself .To sum it all up, my personal vision for myself, my community and the world is to flourish...richly.
The desire to become a Voices of our Future Correspondent springs up from the need to impact on other women and children too especially in the third world countries by tackling issues we are faced with today and also to overcome the challenges and barriers we encounter in the struggle. For instance in my country, we are faced with issues like women marginalisation and discrimination, domestic violence, forced early marriages, human trafficking, modern day slavery, street begging, illiteracy, diseases, poverty, lack of social amenities among other things. The desire to right a wrong and the desire to bring hope has always fuelled my passion for helping other people and PulseWire is providing that outlet to speak out and be heard.
Becoming a Voices of Our Future Correspondent will aid me in amplifying the voices of ordinary women who had otherwise not been heard and been relegated to the background. I will use the platform to ensure that the voices, concerns and needs of women are heard loudly at decision making arenas from local to global level. Also, by becoming a correspondent I will be provided a platform with a wealth of information and resources; network and tools to use in creating awareness of the plight of women globally.
This programme has given me the opportunity to connect with extraordinary women, insight and exposure in developing myself and by extension other women in my community that any other training could confer. The past four weeks have been tremendously enlightening and worthwhile and getting an opportunity to be a part of the five-month training and having a mentor to “champion, nurture, catalyze, challenge and support” me in this endeavour would akkow me make wonders for myself and other women. Being empowered with tools and resources, that is Web 2.O, is magical, you can go anywhere with that.
My vision to impact positively goes beyond my community; it is a vision to influence and impact on the whole world and this platform will aid me to achieve this great height.
