Moving Mountains

Jesus Christ explains to his disciples, as stated in Matthew 17:20, “...Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”

I stand on this word as spoken by Jesus Christ himself when I say I want to move mountains, so where do I begin?

I am absolutely sure that I would like to (sooner or later) work for myself. Who said a young mother in her late 20’s cannot be ambitious? In the 1920’s Amelia Earhart, America’s most famous female pilot was around my age when she was the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. There is a little Amelia Earheart in all of us to dare to dream?

I have come to a crossroads in my life where I keep asking myself, “is there more to life then this? Can I make earn a living and give back to my community at the same time?” I want to be my own boss, raise my children, earn a living doing something I love and have the time, energy and funds to make a difference in my community.

My vision is that my new found faith, wisdom, strength and ambition will drive me to help the women in my community (village) and eventually in my country of Papua New Guinea (PNG) to empower themselves to empower one another. Women have an amazing natural ability to inspire and encourage one another to do what is best for our society as well as future generations. I would like to help the people of my village particularly the women and children have access to basic health and education services. I want to be able to help the women of my community to help themselves through various entrepreneurship opportunities whether through sewing clothes, selling garden produce or even being a teacher.
All women have the right to a healthy, happy, safe, promising and progressive environment.

Before I can start helping and empowering others around me I need to do the same for me. Further tertiary studies to obtain qualifications in business would be an advantage; I would like to set a goal for myself to complete this in the next 5 years.

Being a Voice of Our Correspondent would be an honour. The prospects of being heard and connecting with like-minded women worldwide to pick each other’s brains, to share our experiences and skills with one another would be the ultimate act of self-empowerment for me to get into my community and break the mould.

Some of the most inspirational women of our time who changed the world did so with great passion to help others. Eva
Peron, one of the earliest women’s rights activist in history was loved by people of her nation Argentina, but was feared by many. She made sure her voice was heard and her voice represented the voice of the poor and oppressed in her nation, but she never gave up her femininity for anyone. I believe I possess the same strength and would love to have the opportunity to be the voice for the women of my nation someday in some little way.

I may not be as articulate or have an impressive track record as many of the hundreds of inspiring women on World Pulse, however I have a willing heart, a big voice, an open mind, an attitude to serve my people and faith as big as a mustard seed to make mountains move – if given the opportunity.

VOF will hold your hand to your dream

I want to encourage you to begin with those around you. A word or two that encourages them can be powerful in their lives. I believe it does not have to be formal. Such that as you empower yourself others have already gained from your presence.

Otherwise, this is the very reason why VOF want to work with women around the world to achieve their dreams. I wish you best as you strive to achieve your vision.

You can do it !

" I can do all things through which Christ who strengthens me" - Phil 4:13 :-)

I'm so blessed to read your journals - and looking forward to reading more from you and your progress on with opportunities that life has to offer.
Continue to be the voice and as we put our voices together - we can all definitely move mountains to make a better world for our fellow women, our daughters and for all.

The motto for Leadership PNG, a group that you would be familiar with and I encourage to be a part of also states:

"As I am, so is my community, my organisation, and my country" - how you want your community (family), organisation , country to be, depends entirely on you.

-We all have a special purpose in life. It is up to us to pause for a while, identify it, grab on to it and follow through -

Hi Gadona, It is clear that

Hi Gadona,
It is clear that you have many female role models that have guided the way that you envision yourself and how you want to contribute to the greater community. I think that this is so important and unfortunately something that many women lack - a role model, or a mentor. Someone who will listen to them and give them words of encouragement and support when they really need it. Your strength as an individual with many dreams comes through in your writing. I know that you will succeed as you are following your passions!

Thanks Mary

AMEN to that we all need role models/ support from individuals to reach our goals or just for some moral support. I feel being part of the "World Pulse" sister hood is a blessing in the sense that there is an abundance of the support, energy, intellect and positiveness we all need to make a change in our communities.

God Bless this site and all of you wonderful women in it that I am blessed to be connected with.

Regards,
Ruth
