Picking Up the pieces

Picking up the pieces, a life my own, you moved on, you care no more. All the things I had let go, starting my own administrative consultancy, publishing my poetry, travelling the world, finishing my Masters degree, getting into sports administration, I am picking up the pieces. I even decided to start helping other women who have gone through the same emotional trauma you put me through. I am picking up the pieces; I am taking back what’s mine, and pursuing it. I stand here on my crutch, I choose to walk again. The dust now settles, drama is my life’s past. I choose to walk away from your stereotypes of what I should be, I will take some women from Harare with me. I choose to understand the thoughts I dashed, the life I spent - time spent hushed, how my dreams it crushed. I hit rock bottom hard. I am picking up the pieces, the story of my life a thesis. I wish for all women who suffered abuse at the hands of any man to get justice, I want for them all to be economically empowered, the first step for me towards freedom. Equality and recognition – we want to participate in decisions that affect our own lives. I am picking up the pieces of my life, learning from women in the field, from different parts of the world. I learn about global solutions for global challenges, which even I have faced. With Voices of our Future, I travel the world on my computer, well at the least the one I have from work. As I pick up the pieces of my life, I have an opportunity to speak. I stand up straight, confident and uplifted, a sanctuary from all the hurt and pain, a learning forum further developing my personal interactive skills. The application process gave me a voice, an audience, friends and support. The programme will further develop my writing skills; introduce me to a mentorship programme that has lacked in my life. As I pick up the pieces of my life, I need guidance and support, encouragement and an ear for my vision. “Voices of Our Future” gives me that chance.
I can build a network of people who can help me achieve my vision. World pulse is a source of innovation and solutions. As I pick up the pieces of my life, the other pulses help me let go of all the hurt, I have left behind that hat. There is so much gaiety, nothing like my society. Now my life is so exciting, I have been holding on to that life for too long. I now pick up the pieces. I can be educated to realise my dreams and my vision. I pick up the pieces of my life, and look forward to more. The sun rises today; the birds sang a happy tune in May. I have a chance to live again, come what may.
I pick up the pieces of my life, and thank you World Pulse for this chance.

Sometimes, all we need is just a community that cares, people who really hear us out, take us by the hand and lead us to pick our pieces. Reading your story made me sit to count the pieces i have picked up since joining world pulse and like you, I'm grateful for the chance and support. Your story really inspires.
