Words are my Adornment

Think for an instance of never having known safety or security. Imagine what it would be like to live in a landscape where sexual abuse was a byword and pain was a daily meal. Imagine the first thing your senses perceive is darkness, disease and screams of brutal violence or abject terror. All of it surrounded by a wall ensuring you could never escape. And if you did the system would make sure you were brought back.

This place exists. For many children born to guilty or innocent mothers in jails around the developing world, it is the only reality, all they know of this beautiful earth. A whole generation of children face horrors we as adults cringe at, who know of nothing else but these cruelties. These children and the thought of them changed me, made me want to be their voice, to speak for them. Yet, I cannot blame anyone and don't want to. I want change and I want to be an agent of that change. I believe my words, your words,OUR words, have that power. These innocent children, who are guilty of nothing more than being born in the wrong bed inspire me to make myself heard. To lift my words like a candle in their perpetual night. To open a window to their world and help them to escape and show them there is beauty in this world.

In my country they have a saying, ' qatray qatray sey samundar bantha hai' which translates roughly to ''drop by drop an ocean is created.' Global Pulse inspires me because each voice of the women here is like a drop on an arid world which with time can become a vast ocean and that ocean can change the world. I want to join the women of the world in causing a flood that sweeps all before it and brings something better to the lives of those who suffer. Through the beauty of words, positivity of thought, real solutions, collaboration and awareness. The time of violence, anger and hate is past. It is time for the gentle soul of women to be empowered and I hope Global Pulse can be that place for me. It has taught me through the stories so many women share that change IS tangible. Suddenly, a tentative 'Can I?' becomes a resonating 'I CAN.'

And some drops make big splashes that invite attention. Great composition and grateful for the niche you are willing and passionate about being a voice for. A lot of heart in this article.
