WEB 2.0 THE STRENGTH OF MY VOICE
I always want to talk, I have a lot burning in me; but when I talk I’m hushed by my culture. Web 2.0 excites me in that there is no limit to my voice. I can express myself, learn more and uncover hidden aspects of my culture and society that have cheated my destiny so far.
Web 2.0 gives women the opportunity to make their voices heard, provide a platform for collaboration and room for the exchange of ideas geared towards women empowerment.
Web 2.0 permits the global interaction of women, fosters information sharing, enhances their experience and brings their needs and solutions to the limelight e.g. with web 2.0 I can give my personal experience about how Cameroon is preparing for the up coming election.
Web 2.0 allows women to locate partners or other women with whom they share similar interest forming a community with an unbeatable force. Together they can work and bring about the change they desire in their communities. For example writing on breast ironing will provoke the contribution of concerned women and organizations all over the world to put an end to this Mal practice.
Web 2.0 is a means of achieving self development. It is very possible for some women who do not have the means to obtain formal education to assess quality information online that will enhance the process of self development.
In the past, purchasing and selling could only be done offline. But today through the tools of web 2.0, business oriented women can do advertisement, place demands and pay for goods online. This goes a long way to empower women financially.
It is said “you are who you are because of what you know and the people you have met”. The opportunity to connect with others and share information is a learning opportunity I have, to improve on my self and be a better person. It is also said “write the vision and make it plain, so that they that read it shall run with it”. World changers change the world the way they do because some body, some where, helped them. A great man once said he arrived at his position of greatness by climbing on the shoulders of giants. Web 2.0 gives me the platform on which I can find partners with whom I will collaborate to cause the change I dream of in my society and the world at large.
Using the tools of web 2.0, I am free to tell stories which would other wise be untold. Lastly, I like writing; with web 2.0, I have a large number of people ready to read my stories about the challenges faced by women in my community.

Great essay, I appreciate the many aspects you drew from to complete this essay- parables, benefits of Web 2.0, etc... The ideas sited about the benefits of Web 2.0 are all so true, how do you wish to use Web 2.0 specifically to promote your ideas? I would love to hear about the stories you speak of sharing through Web 2.0. Keep sharing your passion.

run with it
Dear Yvette,
Thank you for your essay written with clarity about the empowering qualities of Web 2.0. It is good to know you want to use this medium to share your stories about the challenges women in your community face. What are your thoughts about how you can specifically do this and reach an audience that will "run with" what you write? More power to you in sharing these stories as you develop your specific strategy.
All the best,
Susa
exposure
what i think about how i can reach those who will run with it is that, placing these stories on web 2.0 is exposing my intentions. it is but normal that people with like passion will partner with me as they are attracted by the stories. it is said birds of the same feather flock together.
