I POKE YOU

You meet an unknown person on the road. You go to him and ask “Can I be your friend?” Then you go for another person and “poke” him. You go to your friend’s home and write on his/her front wall something weird. You are holding a board “Interested in men”. You ask someone “shall I follow you?” and then start to follow him/her.
What I previously said were acted out in some recent videos in internet “Can I be your friend?” “If instant message were real” and “Face book in Reality”, which are hilarious. Think a while, isn’t it same we do in Face Book, Twitter or any other social Network. Though those videos were such a laughing stock, they reveal an underline truth of Social Media life that we are having today.
Face Book is considered the third largest country in the world regarding of its population. Twitter is becoming a popular means in updating each and every moment in your life; even when you are having a coffee you tend to tweet “I’m having a coffee with my old friend”! You Tube has become the place that anyone can share any moving picture, and blogging makes every person a journalist or a reporter (though there is a controversy on truth of the content). Now with Gootgle+; we are looking forward a change with it. Today our social relationships have become so easy. If you want to be a friend of anyone you can find his/her profile in Face Book and simply have to send a friend request. If he/she accepts it, you are fiends.
The movie “The Social Networks” directed by David Fincher which is about the evolution of “Face Book” is a masterpiece of new culture of relationships. Mark Zuckerberg, a computer genius and Eduardo Saverin, a business expert who are friends, start a website “The Face Book”, which first becomes so popular among the Harward University students. The Website was born as a result of a conflict with Mark’s girlfriend. Mark after having a dispute with her, starts to blog degrading her and then create a website “Hot or Not” which allows Harvard guys to compare Harvard women against each other and this takes down the entire Harvard computer network. After this was heard by Cameron and Tyler, two rich brothers, they want Mark to code a website like “My Space”. Then Mark created “The Face Book”. His friend Eduardo comes up by helping Mark in financial sector. But three years after many conflicts between the friends, Edurado sues Mark for 600 million Dollars. The popularity of the website creates a battle of ownership. What I felt after watching the film was that, if the relationships can be scattered in such a way even in real life how strong the relationships in a cyber world?
I’m not criticizing Face Book or Social Media platforms. They are useful in keep in touch with your friends, marketing , propaganda, share information, professional purposes and much more. I spoke with some of my university friends regarding Face Book chatting who honestly expressed their views. What most of them doing was flirting and just killing hours! It is said that over addicts of Face Book are the ones who are bad in building relationships in their real life. Though this is not proved, we have to think twice the way we are using Face Book. Is Cyber Friendship real or is it a “Fantasy Friendship”?
