VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN’S DAY
Dear friends I hope that all of you are well and that your family and children and husbands and wives and boyfriends and special friend and all those people that are really important to you are well and that life has been fair in every way….I wish you especially very much happiness especially at this very special time when we start Christmas holidays….I wish you all much happiness and joy even as you plan for you holiday and vacations I wish you he best…I will be starting my holidays from the 19th of December till the 5th and am sad that I will not be able to write and read with you but am hoping that I get a laptop before then….some one from pulse wire got in touch with me and promised me one am just hoping that it here before then….
On Monday I received a call from the Kenya Human Rights Commission they invited me for a conference and they wanted me to do a speech about violence against women living positively. and I thought that it was important you know about it….Africa is none kind of shady continent when it comes to matters pertaining inheritance and the duties between a man and a woman…my research has proved that more homes are created by women…it I normally said that the home is a man’s territory and that the woman is meant to be taking care of this territory. I hate this stone aged mentality with all my heart. this is the 21st century for crying out loud…I mean we all have an equal share to this I believe a 50% 50%...I mean…and in this case you’// find that its 70% 30% for women…for instance Tabby is a 30 year old mother of two ,a wife, carrier woman and more to that she is HIV+ she has learnt to take each day at a time and has vowed to make the best of every day for her children and husband in spite of her busy and demanding work schedule apart from her also dealing with the issue of stigma and descimination, she comes home to a drunkard husband and a violent and insecure one at that. What more pressure does she need? From life? Tabby decides o move out of her marriage taking her two adorable babies with her .its a bold step…everyone seems to be saying not everyone does that. but he is determined …as we speak he is in a one room house her material wealth being a mattress, two cooking pots, two plates two spoons and a stove, but she is determined woman she will not stop at anything she persistently tells me…if HIV has not killed her nothing will she explains feel her. What more do we need .this is a courageous woman. Stopping at nothing o see that she creates a safe haven for her and her two dear sons’. Watch this space she keeps on saying to me .am touched by her courage and determination to move on with life. Her dearly she is holding her every breath. how I wish all of us would take life much more seriously probably life would be more different. for instance her drunken husband. How I wish they were sailing in the same boat things would be much more different and more impact could be created. This is the story of Tabby Wangari a mother of two boys and LIVING positively….
I dint know that such a story would create such impact stadinovation and tears in over 3000 plus women but what they dint know is that that woman was standing right in front of them…
I thought that it was important you knew about that grate day…yesterday!
