In the Lake

Wiñay Marka.jpgToday I went to a small rural town named Camacachi which is near the Titicaca Lake. I would like to share the following landscape. On the right side of the picture we see Taquiri Island and on the left side Suriki Island. This island are within Wiñay Marka, which is the small part of Titicaca Lake.

Ever since I was a little boy and saw the lake on a map, I have wanted to visit Lake Titicaca. Life has a way of filling-in and some dreams slip away, this one might. Thank you for sharing this beautiful photograph of your lovely land, and the land you love.

Titicaca
Hi Cristina,
What a beautiful picture of the landscape surrounding Camacachi. When I was in Bolivia, I had planned to visit the communities in and around the Bolivian part of Lago Titicaca, but was unable to travel there due to road blocks set up in protest to the government (this was in May, 2005). I was only able to visit the Peruvian part of the lake from Puno, but was taken away by the beauty of the lake, the serenity of the area and the warmth and culture of the people who lived there and on the islands I visited. Hopefully one day I can return to Bolivia and visit your country's side of the lake.
