Introducing myself and my journal: Viva Adelita!

About Me:
My name is Katy and I am a young mexican woman and feminist committed to the protection and advocacy of women's and girls' rights. I've always been a person interested in multiculturalism, proof of that is that I've lived in 3 different countries and learned 5 languages.

Over the last several years I’ve been working on local and international feminist initiatives, time during which I’ve had the opportunity to be in the public sector as well as the NGO sector. In 2007 I joined the Women's State Institute of Nuevo Leon (Mexico), where I had the opportunity to work on various programs against gender based violence, as well as projects related to the formation of women for political participation and civic life. Then, in late 2008 I moved to Spain to do a Masters in Public and Social Policies, and there I got involved with the work of Indera Foundation, where I observed firsthand the importance of networking among feminist women of different backgrounds and generations. In 2011 I returned to my home country, Mexico, because I missed my family and friends so much! and because there is so much work to do here.

Right now I work in and NGO called Pase Usted, specifically in a project called Genera, which is a social entrepreuneurship initiative, and I also collaborate with Alternativas Pacíficas, which is a feminist NGO working with women who have suffered gender based violence.

My Vision for the Future:
Sin feminismo, no hay revolución.
