A Travelling Diary : Vanessa Rivera de la Fuente
I am Chilean converted Muslim woman, living in Buenos Aires, Argentina, with a daughter of 19. I am a feminist and social activist since the age of 15. I Believe in God, social justice and sustainable development. I obtained a University Degree in Public Relations and previously I studied Journalist. I have also and specialization in Management of Social Projects.
During all my life the issues about gender, equality and capacity development has been an intellectual, vital and professional motivation. I led initiatives for women rights and leadership promotion in communitarian environment among low income population in Chile and Peru. I love books, nature, travelling and cats.
Since the last 7 years I’ve been living in different countries of South America for working activities and knowing how different and similar at the same time are the human beings has reaffirmed my commitment to the struggle for freedom and dignity of human beings and my willingness to collaborate from all possible areas for the rights of women.
I think of religious practice as not contrary to social activism, when this latter focuses on high ideals. Rather, I think it's a responsibility. If we believe that humanity has a transcendent destiny, a divine mission on earth; so, oppression, inequality, injustice, hunger, are injuries to our divine dimension that we cannot face with indifference.
My Areas of Expertise:
