Introducing myself and my journal: Butterflies

About Me:
After 19 years of regional refugee crisis, Heshima Kenya is the first and only organization in Kenya devoted to identifying, protecting and empowering unaccompanied refugee children and youth living in Nairobi.

Orphaned and separated refugee children and youth are considered the most vulnerable and invisible population in the world and over 5,000 are living in Kenya’s capital, Nairobi. Classified by human rights organizations as “unaccompanied,” most of these minors have fled from persecution in the nearby countries of Somalia, Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Their families have been killed or have disappeared in war. Others were abandoned or separated from their families when they crossed the border to safety.

Together with the refugee community and our partner organizations, including the United Nations Refugee Agency, UNHCR, Heshima Kenya provides holistic case management services, specialized shelter, community outreach, informal education, and economic empowerment programming. Our innovative approach to care and outreach provides avenues for self-sufficiency and ensures vulnerable minors, especially adolescent girls, achieve leadership skills to inspire peace and social change within their communities

My Passions:
Heshima, n (Swahili) Respect, honor, dignity

My Challenges:
Empowering girls by providing a safe community, basic education, lifeskills, vocational training and Income-generating projects.

My Vision for the Future:
That the minors we serve today become tomorrow’s advocates and mentors creating social change, individually and collectively

My Areas of Expertise:
Advocacy

Hello from World Pulse. You

Hello from World Pulse.

You have reached out to World Pulse, and we are grateful for your presence. I believe that all of life, before and after our physical presence on earth is simply metamorphosis of Eternal, Universal Energy.

I act as a volunteer World Pulse welcomer for new WP members and listener for other journal entries. This is some of the most exciting and rewarding work I've ever done. Through this effort, I have become a world volunteer.

I am wondering whether you have found any World Pulse efforts that really stir you to action. Our searchable site has so many examples of females empowering each other through education and encouragement, that there is certain to have inspiration for all.

We'd love to hear from you again.
