Introducing myself and my journal: Beyond Stereotype
About Me:
When I first heard and learned the word "Stereotype", I started to hate it. The more I studied gender studies in my classes, the more the stereotype thing came up in front of my eyes. I hate it when people say that women are meant to be at home. No matter how educated a women is, at one point or the other, she's bound to admit her destiny, which is to be at home and as much as possible and serve her family. I live in a society, where a girl is bound to get married and if she is late for it, then she won't get a good proposal. I live in a society, where girls are not allowed to make friendship with boys and roam with them. But the good news is, I belong to a open-minded family. I am allowed to hang out with my male friends and even invite them in my birthday parties no matter what the soceity says. I have also been given the freedom to choose my lifepartner and the time to get married. What makes me worried is, still I HAVE to marry someday. Just waiting for the day, when people, especially girls will start to think differently and take decesions by themselves.
