About Me:
For those who believe that giving birth is painful I say: Giving birth has been the most powerful and transformational event of my life

If I did it, I believe that you too. Whatever you think about giving birth, you always have a choice: you always can choose to change your mind. The real power in your life is the freedom of choosing what you really want to experience, based on your own expectations and your own beliefs. I was convinced that I wanted to give birth with my own two hands, that I wanted to go beyond fear and feel the power of every contraction. I was convinced that giving birth to Georgia was going to be my best thinkable experience, so I did it, so it was. Georgia's birth was my best thinkable experience.

My intention is not to persuade those women who want to avoid pregnancy to change their minds-far from it. It is about to convince even women with no interest in motherhood that the right to a positive and safe birth is just as important as the right to choose whether or not to have a child. There is a great value in taking a deeper look at motherhood and trying to discover what might have to do with women's empowerment. We need to deepen our understanding of where we have been as women in the past and how the past has shaped and often distorted our knowledge of our bodies and ourselves, escpecially in the realm of pregnancy and birth.
