Love and Safe Sex for Africa too

I recently met a young woman, Talia Frenkel, who was inspired to start a non-profit to help make a difference in some of the countries in Africa that have been hardest hit by HIV AIDS. What I found most interesting was her concept - her organization is called Love begins with L.com. --www.lovebeginswithl.com. It's about safe sex - Every sale of a condom here in the US, means a free condom for a woman in one of the three most needy countries in Africa. This non-profit organization empowers women by providing them with free condoms and sexual education, and the option to protect themselves. It seems like a small thing to those of us who feel we're in charge of our bodies, but it is a very big deal for women who are aren't used to having that power. I am proud to know her - and proud fo help. Her courage to bring this issue to the forefront is encouraging - and shows us that sometimes a small thing -- a small change in behavior, can make a big difference.

Hi Cheryl, condoms

are a much needed commodity in Africa. Thank you for doing this very noble work!

HIV is a disaster here. In the last couple of years there have been frequent shortages of the commodity and the work that you are doing right now is great!

We had, and still have, a shortaage here in Kenya too. I made a post here and recieved condoms from Portland State University students! It was very helpful to my community.

Living with HIV- the impact of your work touches directly on me- thank you. I will be looking out for more of your posts and also to link up with you. Can we? I am sure there will be info that can help more African communities directly.

"Asante sana".

Warm regards from Kenya,
Leah.

Hello from World Pulse,

Hello from World Pulse, Cheryl.

You have reached out to World Pulse, and we are grateful for your presence.

I act as a volunteer World Pulse welcomer for new WP members and listener for other journal entries. This is some of the most exciting and rewarding work I've ever done. Through this effort, I have become a world volunteer.

I am wondering whether you have found any World Pulse efforts that really stir you to action. Our searchable site has so many examples of females empowering each other through education and encouragement, that there is certain to have inspiration for all.

We'd love to hear from you again.

Yvette
