two new websites for mothers with limited literacy and/or resources
I'm excited to be part of this community!
I want to share two public websites I designed for the organization I work for (Fund for the City of New York). I am hoping members of this group may be able to use these sites as tools for the promotion and encouragement of breastfeeding and nutrition.
Breastfeeding: A Gift for Your Baby (http://breastfeeding.fcny.org ) and Healthy Eating: A Gift for Your Family (http://nutrition.fcny.org ) provides mothers with limited literacy and resources access to the essentials of breastfeeding and nutrition. These multi-media, bi-lingual sites communicate through culturally-sensitive videos, animation, photographs, diagrams and audio.
These sites were created by the Fund for the City of New York in partnership with the Morrisania Neighborhood Family Heath Center-WIC program in the Bronx, NY.
Please check them out and send me your comments & suggestions

Welcome to PulseWire!
Thank you for sharing these resources. I love the videos of the women!
As a new mother who breastfeeds, I feel it is so important that we encourage and support women to nurse if it all possible. I cannot speak for other women, but for me, breastfeeding did not come easily. It wasn't something that I learned was a natural part of caring for a newborn. Luckily the nurses in the hospital were kind and encouraging and pulled all tricks out their hat to make it happen.
Jonah is now 10 months old and we have the most amazing bond. I attribute it to our nursing style and the intimacy that nursing brings to our relationship as mother/son.
Thanks again for posting.

Thank you for your comment
Please help us spread the word about these sites! It's one of the few resources available that does not depend on the ability to read AND is not trying to sell mothers a product.
