Introducing myself and my journal: Way of the Heart, Wisdom of the Soul

About Me:
I was a wounded soul when I started work in WomanHealth Philippines. And this became a journey to my healing, transformation and empowerment. To understand more about women issues and rights, I took up Women and Development at University of the Philippines where I was encouraged by my professors to follow my interests on women healers and spirituality. Around this time, I also joined Kalayaan, a feminist organization. A new life unfolded for me with the women rights movement. I have always been interested in the wisdom of women healers and feminist spirituality. I found my kindred spirits in the women's movement. Starting initially as full moon gatherings and meditations, we formed a circle of women and call ourselves the Moonsisters. In our circle we shared our stories, put our worries and concerns in the center of the circle and send each other positive thoughts and healing energies. I love our Moonsisters' gathering as we also have our share of laughter, singing and dancing. Such Creative force!
Then on September 9, 1999 (9.9.99) we formed Yamang-Pagkalinga, a group of light-workers : women pastors and activists, academics and community development workers. We believed that deep inside us is our gift of nurturing and healing and this gift that Yamang-Pagkalinga intends to share to the larger community specially the disadvantaged and marginalized women and children and the elderly.
Working with the communities has been my life path and one that makes my life a beautiful tapestry enriched by the lessons and joys of life!
Now, living in the Land of the Long White Cloud - Aotearoa (New Zealand), my soul is nurtured by soothing sounds of the waves, bird songs, beautiful flowers, the sea, the clouds, the bush. I make the most of this blessing to capture the beauty in my photography and occasional creative journals and art works. Being a migrant, I got involved in issues of cultural identity and cultural well-being. I am currently active as board member/officer in some charitable organizations and in the human rights network, participating on issues about migrant women and the elderly.

My Passions:
Empowering people through creative arts, music and spirituality

My Challenges:
I am the Change that I dream for the world around me

My Vision for the Future:
Creating sustainable livelihood for marginalized communities

My Areas of Expertise:
Empowering communities through creative workshops, financial analysis and accounting
