single mothers

A cry from a single mother in Botswana
The use of Setswana proverbs has made it easy for some men in Botswana to get away with crime and what the society or culture dictates has for many years made women to suffer silently. Most women in Botswana have fatherless children because a man can choose to just leave and get another woman who will then boast that she has got your man. It is common that the parents of the man will celebrate if they did not like the dumped woman. The situation is bound to go on and on until the society changes the way they treat men who abuse women emotionally.
The burden women go through trying to raise responsible citizens alone is unbearable. If a son or daughter is not behaving well in the community the mother is the one who has failed, the absent father is never blamed. Sometimes i feel society should support single mothers than to make them feel left out. One can pick that kids raised by single mothers usually have strong morale and assertive than those raised by both parents, I’m not saying some families fail their children when they are all available but when the mother is there alone children understand her as their father as well as mother.
