Your voice is a strong wind of change to the listening ears

A community where men are the owners and women are properties. A community where men are the decision makers.
I was born in a community where land belongs to the men. This community wanted to grab our land because all the males are gone. I have lost all my brothers and two sisters due HIV/AIDS, all the seven men, our first born was the last go three weeks ago.
“The leaders of this village are going to strangle me to death now that I have no son to claim this land”, my mother Nociata Alweny, 66 years of age confessed this the very hour her last son passed on.

After the burial, the land issue took a sour angle, several people approached us that the elders of the land were planning to throw us out of our land.
I contacted World Pulse for advice, I was mentored so I also mentored my mother, I told her that there is a group of women worldwide supporting us and that she needed not to worry. I told her about the power of our voice and how saying whatever counts makes a difference.

With the power of the voice at the back of her mind, when asked to speak my mother stood up and narrated the history of our land, mentioned the current rules that women and girls also have the right to own land, she also said my four nephews will soon grow to take over the responsibilities. AND she said no one should think her family is "finished", it is instead larger than before, 17 grand children and three daughters make hers a family of 20 compared to the used-to-be12. She said she would follow the law if anyone tampered with our family properties, She spoke with such confidence.

Being the first speaker in the great community meeting, no one opposed her, no one raised a voice, and even those who came with full energy to speak whatever they wanted had to coil their tails. It was concluded that no one tempers with our family affairs illegally.

These are the powerful tangible miracles and great wind of change in my community as a result of World Pulse Community mentorship and the power of the voice. Your voice is a strong wind of change to the listening ears; your voice is the power that transforms cultures, languages and people.

It took great courage

Bea;

It took great courage for your mother to stand there before the tribal council and speak to them with conviction and truth. And it took great courage - and love - for you to share your story so that others could help you, mentor you, encourage you in order to do the same for your mother. There is a world of women that are willing to stand up for you and against injustice. We just need to know what and where and why and when. Thank you for letting others help you so that you could provide such a strong arm for your mother to lean on.

And this is just the beginning, dear Bea. All of your country-women need to know their rights and speak for them - not in anger or with violence, but with truth and power and conviction.

It took courage for you to raise your voice. And you are a Voice of the Future of your family and your country.

love

Thank you Ruth

My courage, focus and progress in the power of the voice and knowing myself and potential from within has come no where but from mentors like you Ruth. Without WP we would have crushed totally in fear, rejection and isolation. Thank God I found people like you in WP.

Beatrice

Very happy to hear

I enjoyed your story and although it sounds like there are many difficulties you were still able to find support and be able to provide support and information to your mother and she was able to confidently stand up for herself and your family. What a great story.

Thank you so much for sharing.

Thank you Sally

Sally , One thing I have realized is that the power of knowing self is hidden within our voices. The moment we begin to air anything that counts, personally or generally, the wounds begin to heal, strength comes from nowhere, focus and self value crops up. We shall continue preaching the voice for every woman voice.

Love,

Beatrice

Inspiring

Beatrice--

I love this story and how inspiration can be passed from person to person like a magic ball. We must never forget to keep that ball rolling. Your mother will be remembered for her speech because she wisely combined voice, knowledge, confidence, and heart into her message. You inspired her. She inspires others. It will keep going.

Thank you Frances

"wisely combined voice, knowledge, confidence, and heart into a message" is a powerful message Frances.
We will keep the ball rolling. Together we will do more and I will continue keep fellow women, girls and children in burning my heart.

Thank you Mia

For all that is happening around the world, voice is the power behind. For good and evil we hear and see, it is the power of the voice. What matters is how we use our voice. We should use our voices for whatever brings positive change to the world, saying what counts, voices that give life meaning.

Thank you for looking into this journal too Mia.

Love,

Beatrice
