Frakture: Orwell 1984 Remix Complete

Many moons ago I posted about a project I was crowd funding regarding George Orwell and contemporary media. It is a sound design, experimental project with graphics and video. The project is now complete and I wanted to follow up with the link:

Details and descriptions below:

The year 1984 has passed, but George Orwell’s vision of a society controlled through surveillance, censorship, infringement of individual liberties, and violence in the name of security still resonates today. Are we in need of protection from the “other”? Or, is the “other” an ambiguous symbol used to control us? Through field recordings, media clips, text readings and electronic music composition, Margaret Noble pushes and plays with these questions.

Safer is Better:
Analogue synthesizer, drums, health care protests, political propaganda, city emergency alarms, NYSE stock exchange, dice rolling, camera flashes, pesticide spraying and vinyl cuts.

Analogue synthesizer, text reading from Orwell’s 1984, surveillance news report, surveillance gear commercial and field recordings from public surveillance cameras.

Analogue synthesizer, text reading from Orwell’s 1984, politicians, CIA agents, vinyl cuts and the sounds of a village moments after an air strike.

Drowning on Land:
Analogue synthesizer, drums, text reading from Orwell’s 1984, politicians, news anchors, media critics, television static, vinyl cuts and simulated water boarding.

Crossing Over:
Analogue synthesizer, bowed psaltery, heart beat, text reading from Orwell’s 1984 and vinyl cuts.
