Introducing myself and my journal: ...Merely One of Many...

About Me:
Hello My Sisters of the World!

My name is Michele, and I will, forevermore, be grateful in finding this site. I consider myself a womanist, and have, for as long as I can remember, been involved in issues that empower women. I am a divorcee of many years, attempting to raise a progressive, independent young teenage daughter.

My passion is seeing women regain a sense of positive self esteem, and not fear speaking their minds about anything and everything! I have been a counselor for some time, helping women, men, and families recover from the ravages of sexual trauma. I am quite aware of the effects on women and their children; their partners; their families. At times, my therapeutic work gets lonely and emotionally tiring. I am so very appreciative to connect with other women, nationally and internationally, who share similar concerns, joys, and dedication in making women's lives more fulfilling!

My Passions:
Caring about the empowered lives of women; reading; travel

My Challenges:
Wishing for equality & respect "NOW"; having limited monies to do that I want to accomplish.

My Vision for the Future:
women will have the same quality of life as anyone else, no matter what their station in life is!

My Areas of Expertise:
I am a counselor, focusing on the aftermath of sexual trauma. I understand it well, as it impacts women. I am a former educator, loving the learning process.

Becoming a New Member...

Hello Fatima,

I'm thrilled to receive your most kind welcome! It is such a joy for me to interact with other women, globally, sharing values, concerns, her-stories, and more importantly, sharing our respective efforts to rid violence against all women! I hope that we might communicate with one another again!

In Peace & Sisterhood,

-Imanigurl01!-

Today, I've been reading women's blogs and their comments regarding the many efforts internationally, that are being executed in hopes of empowering young girls. Internally, my heart and soul felt so prideful; so hopeful. As an American woman, it is sometimes easy to forget how privileged I am in many ways. Part of the blessings that I want to share with my sisters around the world, is educating them about their inherent right to respect of others, their right to education, their right to reproductive freedom, their right to remain safe.

I look forward to the coming months, as the campaign to empower young girls moves forward!

In Eternal Sisterhood,
