Introducing myself and my journal: Não tenho dom pra vitima

About Me:
I am a Rio de Janeiro based artist. I work both with film photography and 3D materials, creating portraits of people and moments in photographic and sculptural form. My work is inspired by the unique cityscape and culture of Rio de Janeiro as well as the excess and variety of physical materials that make up our contemporary cultural world. My sculptures are made in response to the human body and imagined landscapes, as well as the genius of particular individuals I imagine will inhabit and complete the pieces. They function as ceremonial armor meant to elevate and transform their wearers, with the motivating aesthetics and principles of the contemporary warrior and the celebration and exuberance of life.

I was born American but I consider myself a real Brazilian. I spent six months in Rio de Janeiro, where I ended up because I was looking for my home and my love. I found both of them when I fell madly in love with the city and my Brazilian boyfriend. I have enormous respect for Brazil and Brazilian culture, such as I never I had for the U.S. I belong in Brazil but I am passing some time in the U.S. right now due to visa issues. In Rio I work teaching English, both paid and volunteer, and as an independent artist. When I go back, I will continue this work as well as working with the Rio-based NGO Projeto Morrinho, potentially as a translator for their film projects and as a tour guide.

Eu nasci Americana mas eu me considero Brasileira deverdade.
