Artist Statement for Work of 2010

As a visual artist, my work is a manifestation of the personal self, social-political activities and abomination faced by humanity. I strive to paint what I cannot easily communicate in words -- hence, my portfolio continues to represent an eclipsed journey of emotions through the visual language, which often depicts the oscillating conditions between integrity and corruption, grace and benediction, isolation, oppression and struggle for a life liberated from fear. My figures dance a metaphorical element in compositions reflecting emotional landscape of the mind mingled with mystery. The equilibrium of veiled and unveiled contrast definition between flat and illusory space, of compositional thrust, effective mosaic of light and shadow cultivates the significant structures -- an infusion of figuration and landscape through the dimensions of color that bridge and represent the themes. I work on the solidity and strength of the structure and at the same time would always want the form free of austerity. I want the color to show through like shimmering silences, holding the plastic form united and completely integrated with the void space. I enjoy line, volume, value, weight of the color and the structure in many dimensions.

My compositions dive into the unconscious state and explore its beyond-ness. I endure to probe and aspire to the value of a human life and revolution at all levels geared toward fighting oppression, inequality and discrimination so as to break boundaries to encourage dialogue. By encountering and recognizing the hypocrisies of society, its injustice and unequal structures, I transform some expressions on the canvas, hoping for essential changes and freeing the mind and spirit from inner turmoil, intellectual suppression, and injustice that confines a person from embracing a dignified existence.
