ASPIRING FOR GREATER HEIGHTS
My personal vision of my life is wrapped around the people whose lives I have affected or can affect, and those who in turn affected or can affect my life in a beneficial manner.
My early conception of self was that of that certain young woman who through her tedious journey through life found no challenge or obstacle she could not, with the strength of her beliefs and faith overcome.
My current view of myself is that of a certain mature woman who through life’s travails and joys found a certain courage to face each day with a bright outlook.
My vision is to continue to be the ever happy great grandmother that will live long enough to positively impact my philosophies, ideals and values to the future generations, and beyond.
My vision for my community is one in which regardless of the challenges every new day brings can be assured that the ultimate future is one of hope and opportunity. It is a community in which hard work and industry hold a promise of a means of respectable living.
I look forward to a time when women and widows in my community will emancipate themselves from the vistages of discrimination, deprivation and self denial and take their destiny in their own hands and contribute positively to the development and growth of their communities.
My vision for the world is one which there exist many different types of people as there are different climates. It is one in which each people contribute to the whole world what is beautifully unique about themselves. It is one in which we all recognize our common humanity while we are able to celebrate what makes us uniquely special.
It is a world in which there is religious and political freedom. It is one in which there is freedom from poverty and violence.
This vision is not borne out of ignorance but of hope.
It is one in which we recognize the challenges that prevent us from attaining our hope and with such recognition are motivated to redouble our efforts instead of falling into despair.
It is one that is free of hunger - talk about food security.
It is one that is free of disease - talk about universal primary health care.
It is one that is free of humiliating discrimination - talk about freedom to belong and associate regardless of gender or race.
It is one that is free of ignorance - talk about universal free education.
Finally, to the world, I advocate for love. With love, there will be unity and peace. With unity and peace, there would be no war. Without out war, life would be so meaningful.
My personal journey through life and the experiences I gathered as a widow, and in the course of parenting three fatherless children to successful adulthood adequately prepared me for the role I now want to play in this regard. Besides, I have the zeal, I have the time.
My years of loneliness, taught me patience and perseverance, while the passion to succeed in raising my children ignited the unquenchable thirst for knowledge which I recognized was the only way to actualize my dreams and see them through.
There is no gainsaying the fact that you can only offer what you have and you can only teach what you know.
It is therefore not surprising that PulseWire provided me the platform and opportunity to spread my gospel of hope to others who might find themselves in the situations I once passed through.
To be nominated as one of the VOF Correspondant’s will afford me a greater platform to reach out and touch people out there who have been waiting for a voice of hope like mine. It will also empower me a great deal, in that it will provide me with more training, and adequate knowledge of global issues. I require versatile empowerment.
The women of the world will thank you, Worldpulse for the gift of my voice. Just take the grand step, and nominate me.
Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase.
