A Fulfilling Challenge

Today, the moment I have sent my last and final assignment to the 2010 VOF, I was enveloped with mixed feelings. It was like being on labor, excitedly waiting for my child to be out in this world. I am very happy that I have made it to the last race, while at the same time wondering what awaits me.

At those times when I was overwhelmed with pressing urgent tasks at work, it was such a challenge trying to find time for the diversion I have committed to pursue. I would wake up in the middle of the night to organize my thoughts and start pounding on my laptop. At times, words are too elusive...too many cluttered ideas to put together, so much to write about, but only 500 words to come up with. But despite the challenges, never did I ever entertain the thought of giving up.

The comments from the Listeners are very encouraging. Every time I get an alert that there is new comment in my journal, my heart would jump with joy! God, I wish I could personally hug the one who wrote the note. I could not thank my Listeners enough.

As the last leg of this fulfilling assignment, I would like to take this opportunity thank the whole World Pulse Team.

First of all, thank you Jensine, for giving birth to World Pulse. My admiration for you is overflowing. It takes an extraordinary woman to think of such a very rewarding venue for women's voices be heard. I could not get enough of your very inspiring articles... i read and re-read them. Your words ignite my whole being.

Thank you, Rachel. Your caring reminder always puts us on our toes. They are welcomed.

Thank you, Scott. Your expertise, your being in World Pulse clearly shows you are one of those empowered men... and we admire you for that.

Thank you, too, to all my Listeners. Without you, I may have thought nobody cares. I may have thought my involvement in World Pulse is going nowhere.

To all my World Pulse 'sisters, thank you for being there. I know, all of us are so engrossed with our individual assignments that we hardly had time to read and learn from each other's journals. I know, we will find time for that, soon.

We have started a Voice... and that Voice will be heard, through World Pulse! There is no other way but GO FORWARD!!!

'Harlem: A Dream Deferred' - Langston Hughes
What happens to a dream deferred?
Does it dry up
like a raisin in the sun
Or fester like a sore—
And then run?
Does it stink like rotten meat?
Or crust and sugar over—
Like a syrupy sweet?

Dear Leelee,

hello, from Cagayan de Oro!!! thank you... thank you very much, for the note! God, you put me in a state of reminiscence. the mention of Barbados makes me miss the Caribbean beach and its peoples...

Leelee, it's so nice to be meeting someone from Barbados. you know, I had the honor of living in Trinidad and Tobago where I shared with the Trininadians some Filipino technologies, to the delight of the locals. I also drifted to some Caribbean countries like Antigua and Barbuda to present a paper in an international conference organized by the Caribbean Waste Water Association.

I thank God, and I feel very fortunate to be given the opportunities to travel to some countries, mostly a combination of work and pleasure. Indeed, there is so much to learn from the diversity of culture. It widens one's perspective about the world and its peoples. Everytime I am put in a situation where people of different races converge, I see the beauty in diversity...I see flowers of varying color and shape in one garden.

I like the poem you shared, Leelee... :-) Someday, who knows, we will be personally comparing poems and notes, aside from our common vision for the world. that would be so nice... really nice. what do you think? :-)

take care,

Tess

What an honor!!!

Dear Rachael,

thank you, too, for everything... now, i am dreamy again.... :-)

indeed, everything has a reason... has a purpose. I don't question why I am here... in World Pulse. someday, things would slowly unfold. for now, i have not much to be proud of for being here, but i am optimistic that in time, i would have more reasons to shout to the world what makes World Pulse such an addicting online Family.

Rachael, keep up the good work... and yes, i will keep on dreaming...:-)

Tess

P.S. sorry, by the way, for missing that one important letter in your first name. i just noticed it now. i learn fast, and i take note of my mistakes.. i hope you did not mind my error, RachAel...

I can relate

Eureka, I can totally relate to the mixed feelings! My heart was pounding as I pressed the submit button for my last assignment. I too would like to thank all of those who provided me with feedback and encouragement. I was extremely busy these last few weeks and was afraid I would not have the time to complete the assignments, but I was motivated by those who commented, the journals of those that I've read and, in general, the spirit of the World Pulse website. This experience has already been uplifting! Good luck to all applicants!

Dear Ken,

thank you, for taking the time and the effort to jot down a note for me. you're so sweet... :-)

you know, i smile at the thought that i was not alone in facing the pressures in completing our VOF assignments. it only shows how passionate we are in the things that we set our hearts and minds on.

good luck to you, too, Ken... and along with the other women who dream big, there is a big reason that in our collective efforts, we will achieve big, too!

so nice meeting you here, Ken... and by the way, I like your first name... so beautiful, so unique...

Dear Tess,
Thank you for your comment. I really felt the same as I read it. Many mixed and different emotions came up into myself before, while and even after I sent my last assignment. It was a voyage from the past to the present and thoughts came up. I was overwhelmed by the myriade of feelings. I never thought it possible.

Thank you for sharing your emotions and feelings with us.
Peace to you

it's my pleasure, eliana... and thank you, also, for your inspiring words

I love your statement, "a voyage from the past to the present...."... the very state that I am in, too. we could not undo the past but we have every reason to direct our future to where we want it to be...

yes, we are here to inspire each other... support each other. see? it's POSSIBLE!!!

Dear Tess,
thank you for your inspiring reply. You are right we inspire and empower each other. It is possible to make little changes and in our little we are already on our path. Change will not happen over night but it will take courage, patience and perseverance but we can make it.
We are all changemakers because each woman found the courage to raise her voice and speak out for herself.
Thank you
Peace to you

Tess,
When I read your post - I felt as if you were channeling how I felt and now I can see it resonated with many of us. What a great post! And a powerful thank you. This process reawakened my dormant writing. I am planning to give myself an assignment each week moving forward. I loved the feedback and the conversations I had with friends and family when I shared the link to my journal.
Good luck everyone.
You have my support and respect.
Take care.
Nancy

Dear Nancy,

wow! your words came like a lightning bolt... and i feel like i am in Cloud 9 reading your note and that of the others.

Truly, as writer, we have our ups and downs. In times, we love to hibernate, only to come out again when something or someone unconsciously draws us out from our comfort zone.

yes, Nancy, give yourself that chance of sharing your thoughts again. you will never know how many people you would touch and inspire... PAY IT FORWARD!!! :-)

take care,

Tess

Dear Gretchen, what is this?!

Dear Gretchen,

what is this?! i don't think this is just a coincidence... rather, a purposive crossing of path, of people who we never thought we would ever meet...

really, gretchen, what you are and where you are are very significant to my person. Portland and Oregon are two places close to my heart, to my being. i hope, someday, i would have the chance to tell you why.

for now, thank you for the very nice note... and thank you, for listening. it takes a pair of open ears to really absorb the multitude of inspiring journals in World Pulse. i could just imagine how overwhelming it could be for you and for the other listeners. I salute you all for your effort.

Gretchen, here's my hand... as we tread the road less travelled (Robert Frost must be smiling now...)...

by the way, you are not that far.... feel my presence... as i feel your spirit, too...

I can do it over and over again because I know when I fall, there's someone to pick me up.
