Life is a challenge

Life is full of challenges; however, we are still enjoying this life. We have great projects and ideas for campaign are full of challenges and sometimes of danger, however, we still believe on them. Bringing a change to the community it is not that easy thing to do because in this way you are trying to change values and tradition that several generation raised on them and pass these values to another generation. For instance, there is a campaign in Jordan called "Sheel Iedak". This campaign is against sexual harassment in the street. The cause of the campaign is very noble and essential to stop sexual harassment in streets, but there are many opponents for this campaign, and justifying that Jordan has no this problem in the streets. These kinds of challenges need more courage and patient from the social workers.
The other kind of challenges is the poor infrastructure of the community. For example, EWAMT project in Yemen. electricity cutting and the low speed of internet connections are one of the biggest challenges that the project team is facing.

I completely agree with you that some of the changes that we want to bring about are so entrenched in society that it can be extremely difficult to move beyond these barriers. You mentioned that there are many opponents to the Sheel Iedak campaign - do you see citizen journalism as a tool to support this particular cause and refute some of the arguments form the opponents?

Sexual harassment on the streets is an issue that we ignore and we often turn a blind eye to it. I am so happy that you have the courage to fight this and to value sexual harassment on the level where it should be valued. Your integrity to GBV is a role that is going to change the world.
