Action Now-Empowerment Tomorrow

Getting a success is hard if we don't strive enough to struggle with all those obstacles, thus I have already been in the middle way where I am now. My personal vision is to make a change in my life, family, community, country and the world so I can see women everywhere can feel safe speaking their minds and standing up for their safety and happiness. Before we succeed a big thing, we must get a smallest one first so now I have already succeeded to make a deference in my family and also motivated them sending their daughters to school and now we all give value to each other even man or woman, girl or boy.

When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I thought as a child but when I became a lady, I put childish thing away. Thus I still keep my dream to become a successful person in the future so I can make myself more powerful and be able to contribute my community either my nation. All times I see the girl’s hardship which gender is unequal in my family and community, I always feel upset and said to myself that “what should I do and empower myself to help them”? Since than the only Action much so it may bring my life to get self-awareness, I must try to study and work hard to empower myself first then I will be able to help the others.

I want to see my community where women can give their voices out and stand up to fight with the violence in their family. Most girls and women in my community are still facing with gender inequality such as husbands harm their wives, some girls and women are raped from the gang people and some families don’t let their daughters go to school because they think it is useless to let their daughters go to study and another thing is just because they are girls so cannot go to study as the schools are so far from their houses.

Until I have involved with some NGOs volunteer work, I have a great honor to make a little bit change in my village and after I had already educated them about Life is Precious which I posted ready in my VOF Week 3, they have seem started to change and sent their daughters go to school, moreover, they reduce using violence in their family either no raping girls and women anymore. It is a good result and a positive change in my life that I have already succeeded to motivate them to stop thinking that gender is unequal (stop gender based violence); even it is not all but at least they minimize of thinking it.

I feel so great to see them give value to each other even girl or boy, women or man, rich or poor and it is empowering me much after I have acted in many ways to help those girls and women. I have struggled with many obstacles to make a change in my life, my family, my community and one day I will be able to make a change in my country and the world. Positive thinking and hope may brings me to get success in the future to give my voice heard and help the women through the world.

I want to be Voice of Our Future Correspondent because it can help me achieve my goal to make a change in my life, my family, my community, my county and the world. If I am selected as a VOF correspondent, I will be honored by my university, my NGO, and everywhere in my country will give me value and I’m sure I will have a great chance to contribute the poor people and stop gender inequality in my community either my country. Being a correspondence will not only bring me an honor but it gives me the power of voice, the action of heart and mind, the way I go and it can make me more confident and self awareness and becoming the VOF Correspondent I’m just doing action now but I will be empowered tomorrow.

Being childish is not a bad thing! remember when we were child we used to think and to be so happy, no? Never ever leave your childish nature inside you. Keep those in your heart because it makes us think as like we used to think before! As you are matured enough to think for the better you can think of your goal and fix what you want to achieve.
Just listen to you heart, don't be tough to urself, listen to the child inside your heart that wants to live life so beautifully!

You have achieved a lot and you will be the voice of power for your community!

Live your life listening to your heart and mind!!

God bless you my dearest friend!

Yeah I will listen to my heart.....Thanks so much for your comment! wish you all the best!!!

AGREED

To remember the inner child in us is good because the child has really protected, defended and supported us in that phase of life, we may not behave childishly again but we must appreciate the angelic child in each and everyone of us.
You are the voice of women and children from Cambodia.
I told you once that I have friends and family in Cambodia

Great entry!

Hi Sarvina,

You keep getting better in every entry you enter, i real like this; 'Before we succeed a big thing, we must get a smallest one first'. I have always tried to live to this fact, because if one cannot be faithful in small matters how are you to be trusted in big ones.

Also; 'When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I thought as a child but when I became a lady, I put childish thing away', do you know this is also cleary stipulated in the bible...i am really insipired to see you make this part of your life, it is called positioning, acting as per your knowledge and skill, which at the end brings wisdom.

I enjoyed reading this,

Best of luck dear one.

Much blessings.

I am because we are :-)

Thanks Abella!

Hi Abella,

Thanks so much for taking time to read my post and writing me a comment! I'm so excited to hear that my work is getting better...really thanks to you that always encourage me. Of course before we succeed a big thing, we must be able to cope with the smallest one and it is also the way that i always follow and live in this fact like you too.

Oop I didn't really know that my sentence is stipulated in the bible, unbelievable that my mind and heart lead me to write like that. Maybe the god is helping me....wish you all the best Abella!

Thanks & Regards,

Sarvina, promise me that you

Sarvina, promise me that you will not loose the child in you! Feeling a bit like a child inside even when you are a grown-up is not a bad thing! On the contrary, I think keeping the child in you helps you look at things in a different way and it helps you see new things in the world around you.

You already have achieved a lot in your community, I think you can be very proud of yourself! Well done, Sarvina!

Thank you for a wonderful post!

I really enjoyed reading your post, Sarvina.

I was inspired by your passionate commitment to "empower yourself first" so as to "be able to help others" and to overcome the "many obstacles" in your life through "positive thinking and hope". By granting a voice to your community, you will continue to be a powerful vehicle for change. Keep up the great work!

Great post

Hi Sarvina

This was a great post, i am very much enjoying reading your post. One question for you what the reaction of your community when they see you highly educated?

Sarvina's picture

Thank you!

Hi Phasy,

Thanks so much for taking time to read my post dear! Yeh they are really happy and thanks to my parents that raise me up with a good helping. Sometime I don't need Thanks or respectfulness from them but what i have done in my village just hope in one day everyone there has a good job, stop going to neighbor countries to work as housemate or some become sex worker. So i just try to help them coz I don't want to see one of them become like that.

Hmm..before most of them looked down on me and my family cos my family's poor and no one finishes secondary school, I felt like sth was shotting my heart but I still tried to study very hard even my parents didn't have enough money for me go to school. Thus it was a great experience that we have to remember and recover it. Now they understand a lot and change their behavior to me. Anyways, I never hate them and I am so happy when they want their daughter get higher education.

Thanks once again for your lovely question!!!

Take care,
Sarvina

Loved post and comments

Hi Sarvina and other VOF friends!

It's so interesting to read your posts and comments. I think that the simple fact of our connection and sharing experiences is already empowering all of us and creating new possibilities in our minds for what might be done in the future to help women and girls in developing countries.

I know that empowering and educating women is a big topic at the UN and among the "development" community. I read an excellent book by Nicholas Kristof and his wife, Cheryl WuDunn called "Half the Sky" about this issue. They are journalists who reported from Asia for many years. They held a big conference in New York, supported by the NGO CARE, and showed documentaries from several different countries where women have been able to make real change in their communities. Very powerful. I really hope that VOF can tap into the energy around women's empowerment and that together we can help all of you achieve your dreams of improving the lives of women and families in your community and country.

Sarvina's picture

Thank you!

Hi Liz,

Thanks so much for interesting to read my post! Yeah Half the Sky is a wonderful book...and I have also ever heard and read some points and feel it is so interesting and powerful book. Sure I would love reading it more and more to find the solution to help my community. Being a VOF correspondent is the best luck for me to develop myself and my community and I hope VOF will become a wonderful journey and bring power to the women global all so. And it is also my luck that worldpulse let me meet you. I would love chatting with you soon...

Take care,

SKype

Hi Sarvina,
Do you have Skype or another video chat service on your computer? There's Google Chat too, if you set up a gamil account. Of course, I don't know how things work in Cambodia....but let me know if you are able to video chat and we'll arrange something - maybe on the weekend is easiest. I'm also available early mornings here and in the evening -early morning your time. remember 14 hour difference.

Sarvina's picture

Yeah

Dear Liz,

It is impossible to use video chat here in Cambodia. My internet here is just possible to chat , email or read something only. Thus I will try to find the best way for us to contact through CALL. Hope we can chat or make a call to each other soon!
