Akuku Danger Dies.

Death has robbed us of a most senior polygamist in Kenya.Akuku Danger collapsed in the compound of his home.

He was called Danger because of his good looks that women could not easily resist.I am beginning to question if Akuku Danger ever went into the Guiness Book Of Records.

He married 130 wives,divorcing 30 between the years.The first wife,Dinah Akuku,was married in 1939 while the youngest wife,Josephine Akuku,35,was married in 1992.

There are graves of twelve wives in his home.He once said that he had hundreds of children. Also thirty five sons and 20 daughters had died.

His large family built two primary school and a church to accomode them.

He brought up a family of diverse proffessionals including doctors, engineers, teachers and policemen. The best thing about him-he cherished education.

He was influntial in the community, and many, including politician, often sought him to seek for his advice.

He was a man who was careful about what he ate.He avoided fat and had a particular time to eat.He was responsible for the name choice of his children as a strategy to help him bond with them. His empire was built around small scale businesses, hard working children and for the dowry paid for his many daughters.

His home hosted International journalists, seeking the story of this man who became polygamous at 22.He was also known for speaking his mind openly.

His older children took the responsibilty of feeding and educating their younger siblings.

Akuku Danger died last Saturday,at 90.

May God rest his soul in eternal peace.
