The Journey To Self Discovery

Browsing the internet has been a part of my day to day life. I read news articles, blogs, latest laws and jurisprudence, entertainment or simply facebook status of my friends online which had led me to discover “Voices of the Future”. The announcement had been posted in one of my friends` facebook wall. I was so enthusiastic about it that I did not waste my time and directed myself to this webpage and signed up.

The invitation has been so enticing. Thinking about gaining new friends from different part of the world, learning new things every day, able to share my perspectives and opinions in life and being able to do something more meaningful are just some of the commendable reasons why I decided to join this group. Aside from my ambitious goal of going to New York and other US states to deliver my speeches.

It may sound a cliché, but I want to achieve something more, something worthwhile and something that my parents and my future children would be proud of. Not for my personal advantage but I want to be remembered at old age to have contributed in a positive way by touching the lives of many people. Be it by overwhelming support or in my own little way.

Through this channel I am eager to share the untold stories of my countrymen especially the people in my hometown. I always wanted to tell the good thing about my place to other nations and not just the worst scenarios they read and see on mass media. I also wish to grow as a person and broaden my horizon. I am someone who gets easily bored from doing a monotonous work. I want to take everyday as a new learning experience and challenge.

I can appreciate that you

I can appreciate that you want to focus on some of the positive aspects of society and not just the negative. I think a more balanced view is necessary to eradicate the lingering fear that different societies may have about one another because of mainstream media.

Do you have any childhood experiences that line up with your interest in getting involved in online media?

Best to you,

Claudia

Hi claudia. I am sorry for the late reply to this post. I am still in the process of learning using this forum. Thank you so much for taking time to read my essay. At young age, I had already been exposed with the wider scope of media. My father used to work in a publication company from where i get to read newspapers, magazines and comic books. At home, watching news on television has become an everyday habit for us. Keeping updated with the current events has become a part of my daily routine. Media is one of my passions. That is why in college i took up Mass Communication, dreaming one day to be a CNN correspondent.

My greatest appreciation

The Other Half of the Truth

I liked this part in your sharing--"eager to share the untold stories of my countrymen especially the people in my hometown. I always wanted to tell the good thing about my place to other nations and not just the worst scenarios they read and see on mass media".

Focus on building that up. : )

Thanks for writing. What has

Thanks for writing. What has your personal story been ~ what has led you to want to tell the stories of your neighbors in your town and your country? What change do you hope to bring about as a result of sharing these stories? It sounds as if you're interested in the law, and I'd love to hear more about that. Hope you are enjoying the VOF process!

My Dream

Hi Rebecca. Thank you for writing. First, I want people from all over the world to know the beauty of my place. I want to tell stories of the life we have here, our struggles and my own little dream for my country. It may sound ambitious but I have visions which I know one way or the other I can make it happen. I just need hard work and faith.

best regards,
aliyah
