Wounds of my past, wounds of my 'now', but No wounds in my future!

In 2008 I started volunteering as a librarian, reception at an NGO in Cape Town; this led me to being offered a contract position as the organisations PA with the objective/opportunity to understand the operations and structures of a non governmental organisation. The experience gave me more then I bargained for, in light of personal and political development, understanding the dynamics of working with in the organisation and with other stake holders such as the community, board members and funders. When my contract ended, I was faced with the challenge of being unemployed and took up this opportunity to enhance my skills in writing. In 2009 unemployed but filled with a hunger to create change for a better society. I started networking with women in the writing circles that gave me a chance to be nominated to go for poetry workshops and in one of these workshops, myself and one of the women became acquainted who introduced me to World Pulse, I then registered to be a user...
With my personal vision always in which is “Be a part of creating social change, through SPEAKING OUT” I saw word pulse as a platform to give me that opportunity, to ‘make noise’, and be inspired by other peoples stories of creating change. Writing is important to me, it always has been, it always will be and I believe that it is not just a tool for social change but it helps me heal the wounds that was created, that are being created, It gives me the choice of changing my reality through my writing to not be inflicted with wounds of ‘a future’. It is difficult to deal with my own social ills, but writing through my own lens, gives me the freedom of choice and opportunity to change my own reality.

Dear Olivia, Here I am

Dear Olivia,
Here I am again:-) As one of the listeners I greet you for putting a little more of your history on your writting...I also belive that by sharing with others our wounds can heal better...But part of it is due to really putting your wounds out there...you don´t even need to call them your wounds, but it is important to get to the point where you point out what bothers you in your community as a woman, or in our society as a whole. I love the positive energy you spread out by saying that you want no wounds on your future! You did fulfilled the assignment gracefully...improving is our main goal - keep it on ;-)
