Walking through, past and forward

I remember getting excited for essay writing assignments during school days. The idea of pouring out your feelings and perceptions always made me excited so the task always got a firsthand priority. As I grew older got me more eager and interested. I started to write about things that touch me, bother me, please me, dissatisfy me and affect me. My food for thought started getting transformed into words. It makes me feel lighter and ready enough to carry on with the brighter things and let go of the darker things.
And then I witnessed another stage of my life, the part of growing up and seeing the harsh realities of life. I saw life wasn’t a “Happily Ever After” for everyone. Facts and statistics of poverty, sufferings, inequality was prevalent everywhere and Nepal contributed to these bitter facts in its own ways. I could see it around me: in the streets, the workplaces, newspapers, stories and sometimes with me. I saw women struggling in terms of basic needs, education, marital issues and domestic violence. Village women are still accused of witchcraft and are still a subject of domestic violence. While women in developed countries appear in smart suits as entrepreneurs, we struggle to get a share of mere survival in the worst cases. The world seriously needs a change. We as women certainly deserve better and it is up to us to bring the awaited alterations in the society.
I had been derailed in the field of management. I was lost there, trying to discover and make things out of a field that wasn’t actually me. The thing that people do, planning and managing so that they go ahead in life and get richer never really got the best out of me. So I am here to retract myself and follow the path I have loved and felt passionate about. I am all about writing, sharing, coming up with new ideas, initiating programs, helping, travelling, and research. These tasks invigorate me. It’s a new start for me. I am just beginning to explore and learn so that I can get better. I am no expert… I am a learner, a passionate learner. Worlpulse helps be become what I want to be.
The community of worldpulse has immense opportunities in itself. Here, I get an opportunity to share my ideas and get suggestions. Here, I get to make friends, friends that would certainly help me in fulfilling my aim. Here I get to see and let see, listen and be heard, help and get help and be another catalyst for change like other numerous fabulous women on worldpulse.

VOF week 2 assignment

Dear Rimalnikita, Thank you for reminding a sister of yours from the US - me - that there is more to Nepal than the trekking industry. Thousands from my country visit Nepal to climb it's monumental mountains, but do not understand the plight of women in a society that still accuses women of witchcraft. I send you my best wishes in your search to find a more meaningful occupation than that of business woman. Your supporter from the US, Jan

Your words stay with me..

You show yourself someone who is intensely aware and you have an acute understanding of the suffering of others which I think gives you a very special voice.
I salute your courage in choosing not to pursue the corporate life that was not really part of your vision and look forward to hearing what unfolds for you.

Yours,
Julie
