Being Abandoned

Baby George Francis

The Philippines has 7,107 islands with three main divisions: Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. Its capital is Manila. This place is the tropics has a variety of natural resources from the land and marine life. There is only two seasons where there is summer seasons and the rainy seasons due to the monsoons. There is no beauty like living here in the Philippines.

The population growth is overwhelming. Studies shown that 99,900,177 people according to the CIA World Factbook as of July 2010. Thus, the Filipinos opted to work overseas due to under employment or unemployment. Filipinos in nature is hospitable and hard working people.

However, the issue is Babies Abandonment. Recently in the news that a baby is found in abandoned in a trashcan of one of the airlines planes. Fortunately, George Francis is alive and well. There are plenty of reasons arise of such abandonment such as massive denial, social isolation with shame, emotional immaturity with postpartum depression, sex abuse or rape and most of all, obstacle to personal achievement. This is quite alarming and feel heart breaking.

Many parents especially single-mothers nowadays are abandoning their babies and even the fetus in places like the church, hospitals, restrooms and even in the trashcans. It has been reported in the news almost everyday and this is alarming.

Apparently, the Philippines belongs to the 80% Roman Catholic Church and abortion is illegal here. Being Catholics, Filipinos are expected to to be religious and also obedient in the Philippine Constitution of the land.

However, abandoning a baby is a crime. It is such heart breaking to know that people would do this to the harmless infant. A baby has a life and has rights in order to live.

I have learned and shared my life's lesson before. I would like to help women to see the beauty in life of what it can offer through my writings. Maybe this is one way to reach people especially women in their life's struggles.

God bless... Eat, Love and Live.

Dear Aimee,

Many thanks for the comment. I really appreciate it. Thank you.

It is really a miracle that baby George Francis is alive. He is now in the care of the DSWD, Department of Social Welfare and Development.

I made mistakes before in my life and that this is one way to make it up to it.

Sincerely yours,
