WOMAN

ronke_2.jpg

LONG AGO IN ISRAEL,A MAN NAMED ZELOPHEHAD(NUMBERS 27)DIED LIVING BEHIND 5 GIRLS WITHOUT A MALE.THE LAW THEN WAS THAT ONLY MALE CHILDREN SHOULD BE GIVEN INHERETANCE.WHICH MEANS THE MAN'S 5 GIRLS WILL NOT BE ENTITLED TO THE GOODS OF THE LAND.THE GIRLS FOUND THEMSELVES IN A SOCIETY THAT HAS LITTLE OR NO RESPECT FOR THE GIRL-CHILD.SURELY,THE ODDS WERE STACKED AGAINST THEM.BUT THEN,THESE WERE YOUNG WOMEN WHO KNEW THEIR RIGHTS AND WERE ETERMINED TO FIGHT FOR IT.THEIR WEAPONS? COURAGE,DEYERMINATION AND FAITH IN THE GOD OF THIER FATHERS.THEY MET WITH THE LEADER OF THE LAND(MOSES)AT A TIME WHEN WOMEN WERE NOT EVEN SUPPOSED TO HAVE ANY OPINION.THEY PROTESTED PEACEFULLY AND THEIR ACTION CHANGED THE LAW OF THE LAND CONCERNING FEMALE RIGHTS.WE NEED TO CRY OUT WHEN WE FEEL OPPRESSED,THOUGH WE SHOULD DO THESE PEACEFULLY AND THE NEGOTIATION PROCESS SHOULD BE WITH STRONG DETERMINATION AND WISDOM.
