my neighbors -- two baby pigeons and their mom

pigeons born on my window sill

Just wanted to share these photos of two pigeons that were born on my window sill. I wish I had taken a picture of them the first day they came to life. Everyday I open the window and peek at them sitting in the corner. They are growing so quickly and soon they will fly off (and then I can clean the mess that they have made!!).

They say in my culture that a bird flying into a house brings with it good luck. The past 14 months have been filled with death (an uncle, a young cousin, and 2 young brothers-in-law), and some other heartbreaks, aches and pains - some more serious then others. I hope these birds will bring some good luck. I am not superstitious, but who knows!! My spirit has been low during these sad times, but I am the type who bounces back quickly. These sweet birds, so innocent, remind me of the true beauty and goodness in life, they remind me of new beginnings, and that some days will bring bad, and some days will bring surprising goodness, and no matter what, there is always hope.

I hope you all enjoy these symbols of birth, life and hope!

Love,
Noreen

Pigeons

Hello Noreens,
I am happy that these cute birds brought you some comfort and positive thoughts after rough times. It made me think how pigeons are viewed as a nuisance here in the cities, but I have always loved their cooing. It was nice to have you relate them to beauty and goodness in life. There is a pigeon nest under the roof of the empty house next to mine, and now when I hear the birds outside my window, I will remember your writing.
