people and social networking

I want to go on and on about how social networking has changed the way we communicate or get information, we all know this. With my closest family member living over 1000km's away, it really has made all the difference to me. But beyond keeping in touch with friends and family, social networking also provides the opportunity to meet and learn about different people and cultures and opens a doorway to becoming a global citizen.
If anyone happens to stumble upon this journal entry, I would love for you to tell me stories about connecting or reconnecting with people through social networking. Whether life changing, or just funny or silly, i would love to hear them!
