A BIG WELCOME TO THE VOICE OF OUR FUTURE APPLICANTS 2010

I am so excited and overwhelmed to see the wonderful and amazing women already in the program Voice of Our Future this year. i am using this opportunity to welcome you all to the program. I am Busayo Obisakin , one of the VOF correspodents for 2009 and the winner of the scholarship to Empowerment Institute last year. I want to encourage each and every one of you that you can make it. I was virtually a novice in Web 2.0 and journalism when i entered into this program last year, despite that, i was able to win the scholarship, published three articles now and can boldly say that i know so many things now as regards web 2.0. If i can do it, you can also do it. I wish successful time during the program. Women voices are becoming more and more louder, we are making it. GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! sisters, the sky is the limit.

When I first met Busayo, she told me how she had had someone help her type her first assignment as she did not know how to use a computer. Almost one year later, there I stood in a New York apartment hugging her and smiling so hard my cheeks hurt. Her story can be your story — one of courage, hope, vision and dedication. Go as far as your dreams will let you and never stop believing in yourself. You have the power to transform your life as Busayo did and I wish you all a wonderful journey along the way.
