Women as torch bearers

Being an African and brought up in an African society i have experienced discrimination as a woman and also i have seen women discriminated against on gender basis. From childhood, girls arre treated differently from boys. Girls are looked at as weak and should not be aggressive. This sees many women locked out of some professions and opportunities.

This awakened a passion in me to stand up and be an example to women. As a legal professional i come face to face with women who are battered, whose properties are grabbed by their husband's relatives upon their husbands demise and women who are forced to undergo barbaric cultural rites of passage like FGM or risk being ex-communicated from society etc etc.

Women need a platform to fight for their rights and stand up for what is rightfully theirs. This is one such platform and am glad to be a member.

Kind Regards to all
