Introducing myself and my journal: New Eyes!

About Me:
At age 59 I'm no longer seeking to find wealth and fame for my own aims - I guess I've finally grown up. It's clear to me that our cherished world is far out of balance. And at this time of natural catastrophes and human self-destruction, we have an opportunity for a new reality to emerge. A more conscious reality. A more sustainable and joyful reality for us all. Each voice raised for right is a light in the darkness. I'm honored to be part of this community of women, and men, seeking truth and humanity. May we all be blessed on this journey.

My Passions:
truth, authenticity, equality

My Challenges:
balancing my heart and head

My Vision for the Future:
removing the terms 'war, violence, hatred' from the dictionaries

My Areas of Expertise:
speaking, writing (author of The Sequoia Seed: Remembering the Truth of Who You Are, healing conflict, seeing simple truth in complex circumstances

Wow! Nice welcome...happy to be here!

I'm touched by your kind welcome to this new community. It was unexpected, but heart-warming. I can see that from the very beginning, this community is one that honors membership and seeks connection. I've long felt compelled to help my 'sisters' find their voice. We are in such need of compassionate, inclusive, long-thinking leadership in this world. And, unfortunately, it is most often WE who stop ourselves from making the true contribution we're here to make. The fear, uncertainty of our value, and feeling that someone else MUST know better than us...we need to get over this self-limiting thought form. (and you KNOW I must be speaking to myself here too...don't you!?).

10 years ago I took a giant leap from solid well-paid employment to self-employment. It has been a journey filled with surprises, disappointments, jubulation and many, many questions. I've accomplished things I never thought I'd do - published an inspirational book, spoken before hundreds of people on topics of new perspectives and thought, engaged thousands of subscribers all over the world on a bimontly basis in the exploration of self excellence. But, with all this success, last year I found myself dead broke and no prospects in sight. Living in the middle of nowhere with my Mother (78) I acquired a job as a food waitress for minimum wage. What an ego-blaster. Which, of course, eas exactly what I needed. It's been almost a year now and the personal benefit has been tremendous: humility, understanding true service, shifting my relationship with money, recognizing that circumstances are just circumstances and that I can shine in any situation and bring higher consciousness to those I serve.

I know I'm at the end of a cycle and my 'next step' is up for me. What it is, I'm still not sure. I've learned this past year or so to trust more and stay present to what presents itself. To remain true to what I know are my gifts and to seek opportunities to make that contribution. Yet, still, I feel this overwhelming urge to take on something huge. Especially in the area of the evolution of corporate cultures. Imagine a conscious company! One that understands it's dual mission: outward contribution of value and internal nurturing of people. This is my dream and I'm seeking the opportunity to jump in with both feet and see just want can happen!!

Thanks for your new friendships. I so look forward to truly 'engaging' in this community and not just be a passer-through. In Joy, Karen
