My quest for truth, beauty, and goodness

I have just begun the sixth decade of this lifetime! How can that be, I ask myself? Seems like only yesterday I was worried about turning 30….. I am grateful for the many blessing in my life, including the opportunity to serve the women of this small island community. I work as a domestic violence (including sex assault) counselor and advocate and also as a substance abuse counselor. It is difficult work, but not as difficult a journey as those whom I serve. I am inspired and renewed by women finding their power.

Welcome!

Hi Beverly,

I'm so thrilled you've joined us on PulseWire. I'm sure you'll have a great time with your new online community here.

Life is truly an amazing journey... I am personally at the stage where I'm worrying about turning 30, so your comment made me laugh! Good to know that time keeps flying by...it seems like such a short time ago I couldn't believe I was graduating from high-school (how has it been TEN years??!) :)

I praise you for your work with women...it sounds like a rewarding challenge. Which island do you work on?

I'm so excited we'll get to work together in the next month on the Voices of Our Future program. I know you'll find it to be an incredible experience.

Wishing you all the best,
Scott

Dear Scott,

Thank you for the welcoming note. And I just read your profile. It gives me renewed hope (which I frequently need renewing) to hear/meet men such as yourself. Given the work that I do, the male energy is typically one of entitlement, violence (especially to women and children), and other such lower-level consciousness behaviors.

On a lighter note: when I was in college the saying was 'never trust anyone over 30'. haha! ...I live on the second smallest inhabited islands - Lana`i, formerly known as the pineapple island.

Again, thank you (mahalo) for welcoming me. Be well and at peace. Aloha, Beverly
