Introducing myself and my journal: Dying to be mothers - Preventable maternal and neonatal deaths in Ghana's hospitals
About Me:
Executive Director and mother of Nyilale Vaah Junior (died at birth as a result of neglect and substandard care), Mrs Vaah is an experienced Finance and Accounting professional. Her first hand experience with such incompetence and negligence makes her a strong advocate for better service delivery and safety of our women and newborn babies in Ghana's hospitals.
My Passions:
Demand standard care for women in labour and for newborns
My Challenges:
overcoming apathy and lack of accountability in Ghana's healthcare system
My Vision for the Future:
A future where a pregnant woman in Ghana has as much a chance at having safe delivery as her counterpart in Cuba or the US
My Areas of Expertise:
Maternal health, Financial Management

Happy to be here
Thanks Olu. This is a good forum. We hope that keeping these experiences in the open is the first step in getting them resolved. Since we started takling, many others who have hitherto been suffering in silence have started coming out with their experiences.
