The Power of Enlightenment

It is said in my faith that knowing the truth sets one free and i have found this to be true in development work.

To see real change in our communities, we must "arm" women with the truth about their situations. We must tell them it is Government's duties to provide good education and hospitals. We must tell them about the documents and agreements their countries ratify. We must enlighten them about helpful health practices and get them informed about their rights. We must tell them that if demand good governance consistently, they will get it. We must tell them the things they need to know to make for a better quality of life for themselves and their families.

Only an informed person can make choices. What happens when she doesn't know she has choices because she has been told by the society that "this" and "that" are her roles and she will never have any opportunity to go beyond a certain stage.I am persuaded that with increased enlightenment and participation by women in multi-sectorally, we can bring about change.

This platform is a great way for women to express themselves and learn so much more and i hope that many more join up and participate.

I definitely agree with you:

I definitely agree with you: information is a powerful tool. Knowledgeable individuals should be open, honest and generous in their interactions with others, in hopes that well-informed citizens will be more proactive agents of change. PulseWire provides an excellent venue for an open exchange of knowledge and expertise, and I'm so happy to see you embracing that while encouraging other members to do the same!

Your voice is such a positive addition to our community! Your words ring true in that before women can exercise their rights and enjoy their freedoms, they must know what their rights are and that they exist, as well as be empowered to demand them from society. And it's our job to tell them.

Your work is so vital, and gives me great hope. When I meet women like you, my wonder and excitement for possibilities in Nigeria grows. Some of the most outspoken, poetic and fearless women I have met in this community and in this world are Nigerian women. My friends Olutosin, Ooluss, Busayo, Celine and Ayobami have taught me that life for a Nigerian woman is a difficult one... and that they are not going to sit idle and let the cycle go on. I look forward to learning more about your organization Empowering Women for Excellence Initiative and what programs you have created to empower women in your community.

In friendship,

Our voices are our greatest tool. if we can learn from one another we will grow strong and empowered. Those that have voices of imprisonment we support with our voices to teach them the tools to gain strength and confidence.

Thank you for your voice and support of all women.

Peace, Mia
