Introducing myself and my journal

About Me:
After living 18 years of my life in Cambodia, I am now based in New York City where I attend Columbia University. My upbringing in Southeast Asia has exposed me to the harsh realities of poverty and political instability. Additionally, as a woman, I am particularly considerate of the burdens that women bear in the context of social turmoil. At Columbia, I plan to major in Sustainable Development with a special concentration in Human Rights.

Welcome to PulseWire! I find

Welcome to PulseWire! I find some of the most amazing and interesting stories are from those that have two different identities that emerge into one extraordinary person. The cultures that you are exposed to and are trying to understand make your stories unique. I hope you use this sight to network to people that are struggling to have a voice in southeast Asia. Welcome not only to PulseWire but to New York.

Best,
Carri Pence

Welcome!

Welcome! We are thrilled to have you as a new member in our thriving community of grassroots women leaders and supporters of women's initiatives who are lifting their voices in the name of empowerment and connecting across borders to make positive change for women everywhere!

It is exciting to have a Cambodian women among us, as we do not yet have a strong presence of Cambodians voices active in our community. I hope that you will continue to share your experience, studies, and hopes for the future with us through your journal. I am intrigued to hear about your journey - from Cambodia to New York and taking on such a dynamic program at one of our nation's top universities. I sense that you have a wealth of experience and knowledge to share with us.

I hope that you will join us in our community Action Blogging Campaign - Ending Gender Based Violence: http://www.worldpulse.com/pulsewire/programs/action-blogging-campaign-gbv

In partnership with the Man Up Campaign, join us in saying NO to gender based violence. Tell us your personal and observed experiences of violence against women, in any form. Share your ideas and innovative solutions and use your PulseWire journal as an instrument for change.

In friendship,
Jade
