Female Genocide in India

For many this is unbelievable. The Nazi's eliminated about 6 million Jews. But in India, in about three generations, more than 50 Million Women have been eliminated from India's population.

They have been eliminated at every stage of life. Why have girls and women been selectively annihilated in India? For the same reason that genocides happen anywhere in the world. Because female are considered inherently undesirable and yet usable (as reproductive machines) and disposable. This is misogyny at its worst.

The 1948 U.N. Act against genocide clearly states that the selective killing, torture, and prevention of birth and continuity of a group is genocide. India right now, accounts for the worst genocide in Human History. And it is silent. And it is ongoing. Please read the article below on India's female genocide and support our campaign by signing and circulating this petition

Thank you all

Thanks so much Rita, this is so disheartening, these issues have weighed me down so much that everyone around me does not know why I have overburdened myself with issues (according to them has no direct bearing on me.....) I really want to know how we can solve these problems.....I can do whatever is necessary only that whatever I do may not hold water...but we must not be silent, it must not be an option at this moment in time, We Will Win...If we do not relent....
Thanks once again Rita....for posting this piece.

Of course it is ours

Dear Olutsin,

That is a typical response! People think "those issues don't concern you -- why bother?" But we are all connected because we are all human. It is because of people like you that the world has worked tirelessly to end violence and subjgation in whichever corner of the world it has occured be it colonialism, slavery, or apartheid. So take heart -- because you are an inspiration to what the human race needs to be :) Yes we will persevere -- history is witness, that that is the road to change! I send you lots of hugs. Rita

Dear Rita, At times it gets

Dear Rita,

At times it gets really scary when well educated, well to do people show no difference in attitude towards a girl child. There is no dearth of those and statistics prove that.

That's right!

People generally think the issue is illiteracy or poverty. But the highest rates of female feticide are among the wealthier and educated sections because they are the ones who are aware of the technologies and have the means. And when women are abused for dowry, and their lives are in danger, even when they are from well-to-do homes the parents don't allow them back. The saying is: the daughter leaves in the wedding palanquin. Only her coffin can come home.
