NOTE: Regine Charles at Brown is organizing a Panel on Putting Haitian Women at the Center -- modeled after our May 4 conf in NYC. She asked Alice, Taina, myself and I believe others to participate in this panel. - AC

Dear All,

In February there was a teach-in on Haiti at Brown that included Patrick Sylvain and others in academia at Brown and elsewhere, and friends (of mine) like Bill Bollendorf of Galerie Macondo, a dealer-collector of Haitian arts. At that time, there were discussions about an art exhibit for a conference in the fall at Brown. Tony Bogues, brother of one of the organizers of this November conference, would most likely be the contact person for these arts activities.

It would be fabulous to see all of you if you do attend and present at the conference, and hopefully Edwidge will be there too, as she got an MFA at Brown in Creative Writing. I will hopefully be working on some form of arts presence, and perhaps we could arrange some focus on Haitian women artists!

I will contact Tony Bogues to discuss the arts angle, and hopefully Regine Charles and I will connect too. If anyone else is interested in working on this, plz let me know!

With excitement and blessings to all, Janet
