Holding tight with Gentle Hands

Holding tight with gentle hands
This tenuous manifestation
Like a baby bird, wings not quite firm
I protect our new union.

I wear your ring, a prize of sorts
Not quite as binding as I had thought
We test the bond, but not too much
Still tying the chords to make us strong.

You are strange to me, your face and form
Your deeds and thoughts and baggage
Friends and family cannot quite see
What makes you worthy of having me.

But for me, I enjoy your full focus
Not clingingly at all
We reach out to hold, squeeze, caress
For us, this is heavenly blessed.

Thank you. For the passion and seeing into my soul
For being a keeper of my memories before we grow old.

Holding Hands

This is the story of new marriage, which has to be held carefully, not too tight or too loosely.
