Stories of desperation

Dear Rahele,

What an interesting story... it made me smile and reminded me of a similar story I heard recently from a mentor. She told me of a woman who was held at gunpoint on the street by a man. The man asked for her wallet. She then asked the man why he needed the money so badly. The man proceeded to tell her that he was hungry and hadn't eaten in four days and needed the money to buy something to eat. He started to cry as no one had bothered to ask him before how he was doing or what he needed. The man lowered the gun as he wept and the woman asked him if $4 was enough to get something to eat. He said yes, so she gave him the money. He said thank you and left.

It seems that in both of these stories, the person behind the gun was in a desperate situation. But when treated like a normal human being - that connection was enough to stop their violent act.

Thank you for sharing this wonderful story!

In friendship,
Jade

power of women

Hello Rahele and jade,

Thank you for sharing this story. In both the story, i think it was the power of women which stopped the criminal activity of the man.

Regards,
pooza

great observation!

Pooza,

What great insight! Yes, it does appear that in both stories, it is the women, who see into the situation with compassion.

Jade and Rahele, thanks for the stories, they remind me of parables. There are lessons to be learned in every circumstance.

Love the dialogue and story sharing,
Jody
