By-elections end in blood shed

I am so upset about the violence during the by-election campaign which has even resulted in killing and injuring innocent people in the North western province here. The campaign has been violent as the ruling and opposition parties fight each other.

The by elections were held due to the sudden death of the Mp in Mufumbwe.
Although the election results were announced this Morning of which the opposition scoped the seat, my heart is grieved because, the by-elections has left scares on people’s lives which will never be removed. Two children were run over by a vehicle and died on the spot, while several people including a 14 year old girl sustained serious injuries by the uncontrolled brutality which these political cadres started.

It is so painful to see women crying for the loss of their young juvenile boys who obviously never even understand what a by-election is all about. I wonder how some one can drive so careless and kill innocent people. And to these political supporters, it is shocking how they can spend their productive hours for almost two weeks just campaigning and beating one another. When in the actual sense, these cadres remain poor and even poorer when someone is put in office.

My hope is that we won’t experience the same violence during general elections.

So sad

I had hoped that your by-elections would proceed without bloodshed and so was saddened to read your post. I pray with you that the general elections are peaceful and that the Zambian people have the opportunity to freely and honestly elect the officials they desire to be in office. Our thoughts are with you.
