Our newest ally: Helen Clark

While listening to to Donor Conference, did you hear Helen Clark speak? She is the Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme. She is also one of our strongest allies.

Please read her pre Haiti Donor's Conference statement:

Then read her biography:

Then the section of the United Nations Development Programme on Women's Empowerment:

While it was only one line in her speech today, she said was key to involve women in the rebuilding of Haiti. Helen Clark is one of our greatest allies.

Dear Melanie,

Immense thanks and YES, fabulous! We have used part of one of her recent statements for some of our outreach for the Gender Shadow Report, about which I will post today at Nouvel. I did catch her statement, and she is terrific. I have also just finished listening to Kathy Mangones, UNIFEM Haiti Head, speaking at our Shadow Report launch across from the UN today, this online at the Radio Feminista (FIRE) site.

Melanie, what is your email address? I/we need to add you to all of our communications, if you would like to be, either or both for the Shadow Report and also for Poto Mitan.

We look forward to working together (with you and with our newest member, Helen Clark :))) to build a gender-equal society in Haiti, and everywhere in the world!

With all best wishes and appreciation, Janet

Am so glad Helen Clark, our former Prime Minister, is on board. You will not be disappointed as she is visionary and led NZ in many innovative programs that promoted equality across many arenas. She is well respected and will work diligently to help rebuild Haiti.
