Digital storytelling

I attended a four-day training on Digital storytelling. "Digital Storytelling" is an emerging term, one that arises from a grassroots movement that uses new digital tools to help ordinary people tell their own 'true stories' in a compelling and emotionally engaging form.

The capacity building training workshop was held in Johannesburg, South Africa. The workshop was facilitated by Women’sNet and each participant produced a five minute digital story.

The digital storytelling workshop ran under the theme HIV/AIDS and women’s rights and it focused on movement building.I learned to use different computer software to tell a story digitally. This was an empowering experience for me.

This month i will be training vulnerable and marginalised people that i work with to use digital storytelling to tell their stories.

I want to share my digital story. How do i do this using my journal?

you are already doing it

hello, beautiful story teller,

You found a good place to tell your story and you are already doing it. As you can see, I read it, and soon a lot of others will. Keep writing. Just keep posting, and your story will unfold in front of us. Thank you for sharing.

My personal story is a 3-minutes digital story that i produced during the training workshop that i mentioned above. How do i integrate this story onto my journal. I tried attaching it but i failed.

Would you know how i can do this?

your video

Hi Gertrude,

unfortunately I do not know the answer to your question, as I am quite new to this website, too. I hope somebody else can give you an answer. I would like to see your video.
Another solution, though, would be to post it to youtube and give the link here (which I know it's possible). To post on youtube you have to go to, make a personal account there and upload your video within your account there. After it is uploaded (see that the videos have also a lot of attributes to be edited), you can post a link to it here for us to see. In this manner you also have a youtube journal, as well as one here. Succes!

hi Gertrude,
Unfortunately, members are unable to upload video at this point of time, but we are working on adding that feature in the near future. We'll announce it in the PulseWire Lounge when this feature becomes available. For now, if you have that video elsewhere such as on a blog, facebook page, etc.. feel free to add the link to direct people to that site. Best wishes,

Hi Gertrude

First of all, many congratulations for this awesome experience. Digital Storytelling is one of my favorite form of media...

Like Ioana said, you can upload the video on YouTube and post the link here for all of us to watch..

We are all looking forward to see another facet of our amazing Gertrude..
